MARK Harvey has accepted the job as caretaker coach of Fremantle Dockers for the remainder of the season.
A Fremantle spokesman confirmed this morning that Harvey will take charge for the first time in tomorrow's must-win game with Adelaide at AAMI Stadium, and will hold a media conference in Adelaide later today.
He replaces Chris Connolly who quit on Wednesday, after 129 matches in charge, when it became clear he would not have his contract extended.
Harvey, who has previously worked as an assistant coach with Essendon and Fremantle, will be one of the leading candidates to take over on a fulltime basis next year.
The other favoured candidate is Neale Daniher, a former Dockers' assistant who rently quit as Melbourne coach. Michael Voss, Chris Bond, Guy McKenna and John Longmire have also been linked to the job.
The 13th-placed Dockers must win at least six of their remaining seven games to have any chance of playing in the finals.
