Maybe the fact that he is the one starting the chants says something about bay 114's performance. ;)

That's ripe coming from someone who was too soft to show up. Too many people get tickets and then at the last minute pull out.

Sometimes people do have quite a good reason though. I know I pulled the plug on tickets for the first Bay 114 game v Richmond because my Grandma had to have a triple bypass - my parents gave me their tickets because they would be staying with her. So I gave someone else the opportunity to use the free ones. I didnt find this news out until 4pm that day, which I know is awkward to find people for that late. I guess what I am trying to say, there are some instances where footy has to take a back seat (although for me, there is pretty much nothing that will!!!) :)

I have nothing wrong with that though as that is a good reason but it has happened a lot lately with these tickets, I think people just bar up over the thought of a free ticket but when they realise they actually have to

a) go outside
b) socialise with others

they crawl back into their holes.

Of course there are occasionally emergencies that take precedence.

Im not convinced that there are emergencies taking place at the rate that people are either no showing, or pulling out night before the match though.

Not critisizing CC here, as he was a later inclusion anyway, but when organising this thing, it can be very frustrating.

wow.

Ok so i am against some particular chants led by Matt.

But i love the enthusiasum all round.

The pros clearly outwiegh the cons here guys.

As with a "Leader" - Matty has the courage to start up something when no-one else would. While sober, too.

What i wouldnt mind seeing is matt being supported after he starts something. If he starts up an "Oh Adelaide", then for the "Is wonderful" someone like Stazza or Dolfy or someone really loud should be there with him to add some decibels.

who cares about all this shit "we should wait an extra 10-15 before chanting blah blah blah" yell what you want when you want we don't need any of these lame rules...

if matty wants to start a chant good on him if u don't want to join in with him you don't have to...

in my opinion we should need more random outbursts of encouragement/abuse during the game. rules make the whole thing less fun and i'm there for a good time not to get the virtual finger pointed at me come monday for chanting at 12.5 seconds brfore i should

Who are you, and why are you saying 'we'?

Indeed. Plus.. I have no problem with people shouting out shit all game if they are cheering on the boys but you can't just shout out chants randomly non stop. That is not what a CS is supposed to be, there needs to be some order!

For the record, show me any 'rules' we've made, that havent been out of necessity to meet the club's standards?

And for ****s sake, noones told anyone to be quiet. We want the ****ing noise. Can i make that any more clear? We just cant repeat the SAME chant over and over, especially when it hasnt caught on to start with.

i didn't think we were a cheersquad? i thought it was more an avenue to support the team vocally at the game without daggers being placed firmly in my chest from those in front of me... i did say random bursts not chants constantly just to qualify...

i never said anyone was told to be quiet this is something that happens in my normal seat, i did howerver see a post quoting time frames for when people should be yelling and making noise. just because theres an add break on why delay the noise are we trying to make the coverage sound better?

in case you haven't noticed nothing really catches on... your basically saying why have a conversation in a morgue because the corpses don't join in.

Cool, sure i must have met you then, just dont know the log in name.

As far as being a cheersquad goes... well, im not sure if we'd formally call ourselves an official cheersquad, probably more of a 'grog squad'. Ive used it in conversations before though, just easier for people to get an idea of what we're doing that way.

As for when to start chants... sometimes i think you can be competing against the rest of the crowd. The telecast isnt really what id be aiming for, but at the same time, no need to try to start another chant if the rest of the crowd is chanting 'Adelaide'. Also, we've peaked a bit early on the Huddo chants a few times, but we'll get that right. Its not a rule, but its something we could improve on, to be more effective.

Yeah, the join in rate is terrible. Its improving though, im noticing more and more atleast clapping along. But i meant joining in just amongst us even. If its not working, put it away.

I think everyone has gotten a bit carried away here.

'Issues' were communicated poorly, then taken out of context, then turned something that is a minor issue into a major argument.

Personally, I think having Matt around is fantastic; he's passionate and enthusiastic, and you can clearly see how much he loves getting involved.

That being said - forgetting whether it's Matt or anyone else, if the chants are over-done, people will get sick of them and lose interest. That's not a dig at Matt, that's a general comment. Now, perhaps with Gets! away, Matt has been trying to fire people up - which is the point, so you can't criticise the little fella for that.

NOW, having said that, I think it may be an idea to designate a couple of people to lead the chants - maybe Stazza and Matt, or maybe Gets and Matt, or maybe Stazza and Gets; who cares who it is, but you do need a bit of a system to the chanting. That doesn't stop individuals yelling out or cheering support though - which IMO should go on for almost all of the game, with a chant thrown in depending on what's happening on the field. Maybe if Matt could stand up the back with a few of the boys and get a bit of a feel for when to fire up, it'd help? Personally, I hate soccer, so I've never gone to an event where you chant, so, for myself, it took me a while to get into it.

Robfan; don't take the previous posts of people as an attack. When guys are young, they have high pitched voices; that's just a fact of life. I think everyone enjoys having him around, and, correct me if I'm wrong, he seems to absolutely love being involved.

I think it'd be pretty sad if this thread, which has basically turned to crap based on a few poorly worded comments and over-reactions, resulting in Matt not being part of something where he is wanted, and where he enjoys being.

Surely it doesn't have to be all or nothing, it's not like he has to lead either every chant or not a single chant; he can lead some, he can join in with some. That way he's happy and involved, as is everyone else.

She has been watching her kids fairly closely for the last couple of times to see how they were treated / reacted to and this was the first time he was allowed to go with some of you guys at half time with out us with him. If you were a 13 year old boy amongst a group of older guys would you want your mother with you?

To the others, thanks for what you wrote but I think Matt will not come back to Bay 114 now. :(

That'd be a real shame.

If Robfan is comfortable with Matt being part of the group, and is comfortable enough with everyone that she's happy for him to let him go and spend half time with them, then letting a stupid internet thread which got out of hand for no real reason change that would be a pity.

Also, surely the preferred option would be Matt (if he wants to, and if he's allowed to, and if the boys are cool with it) hanging out with the guys at half time, as well as NikkiNoo again, assuming she's allowed to, joining the team in the Bar for some shots ;)

I would have gone this week, but no tickets, so I'm in the members unfortunately.

I will go, however, if Nikki is there. ;)
