View Full Version : Our midfield is woeful

Really is.
Cant wait till Coughlan, Polo and Deledio get back next year. Pre-season in the gym, get 'em up and going. Tuck, Hyde, Tivendale - these sort of blokes are alright just to step in from time to time but we need the combination of the other 3 I mentioned and Foley to work. Get Cotchin or Palmer, if they can play in the midfield. Kreuzer will be good and all but our midfield just struggles.

I really thought the same thing today. When Johnson is your best mid, other then Foley, for the day, you know your in trouble. Our entries into the 50 were absolutly pittyful

Coughlan's got heart but can't kick at all (Tuck). But him, Polo and Deledio could make a difference.
Our biggest problem is our defence. Today 15.10 is pretty good but every time they went in there 50 they had an answer.

But how many centre clearances did we have? Not many I wouldn't think.

Jack
Edwards
Foley
McGuane
Thursty
Polak
Newmo
Simmo
Richo
Browny
The rest are completely shithouse. The above were the only ones that you can say didnt look like muppets up against the silk port had everywhere.
If tigerheads didnt see the chasm that stands between us and a team like port in skill, then they have NFI. ;)

Our biggest problem isn't our defence. They are sitting ducks. You know that whenever Port or any other team have it in the middle there going to make a decent foward 50 entry. No pressure from the midfielders.
Btw, McGuane, Polak and Thursty all got passes by my standards today. It was the little blokes in King, Newman and Raines who got shat on. All failed in there jobs. Their collective oppenets in Motlop and Erbert kicked 11 between them.

Newman and Simmonds were both ordinary. Not deserving to be on that list. I think Pettifer and Kane Johnson (suprise, suprise) are.

the defense was hopeless and is the main problem, with port players taking marks despite tigers having players in the contest. how many times have we seen no hopers like polak fail to connect to a spoil, yet have no problem get their to take a mark. polak, mcguane and king are too loose and give their opponent too much lattitude.

ordinary is ordinary, shithouse is another story.
DO yourself a favour watch the replay, see who played at HF for port and how they move and then watch pettifer and see if you can see the difference in "quality". ;)

agreed mcguane was very good most of the young guys bust a gut and try its the senior players that need to take a good look in the mirror time for a BLOODY BIG BROOM to sweep thru punt rd at the end of the year delist the useless ones and get some sort of trade for the ok ones . keep browny richo coughlan trade the rest and start again

raines to play ressies had about 9 goals kicked on him looked shit today
hyde is shit tiv is shit as well
play conners and cass both have great skills
McGuane was good today.
Our midfield is an absolute disgrace however. Hyde, Tivendale, Howat and Jackson must go. Connors + Casserley must come in, Krak had over 30 touches so they will play him. Tambling apparently had 22 but i would give him longer in the ressies, maybe P Bowden will come in.

spot on.the gap between us is enormous.we don't know how to run and bust our guts when the opposition have the ball.as for when we do don't get me started...btw king has been ok but still a lot to learn.

the defence does sensationally well considering how often it comes in and how regularlythe midfield just has no accountability for their opponents whatsoever.do we evwn do tackling drills?

defense was pathetic, they didnt man up and were too loose, if it want for newman and thursty they would have got more.
To all the people saying Kane Johnson will be off the list, please take your hand of it and do your zipper up.
B&F last year and runner up twice, played the first 8 - 9 games with a broken hand and gives 110% every game.
If you think for one minute the Richmond Football club will trade him then you have absolutly no idea about football.
And why do people want to bag Hyde? His disposal at times isnt flash just like the rest of the team. Thats what happens when you have won only one game for the year. But his evasive skills are right up there with the best. THat goal today:thumbsu:

Our best midfield is Foley, Polo and Coughlan. Jacko wasn't even played in the middle today, but I'd prefer him than Johnson in the middle. Let us hope that Connors is the next Paul Broderick and we can pick up another couple of skillfull/tough midfielders

I think that this year we have seen much less output from Tuck and Raines and of course Johnson.
Perhaps they have been 'worked out' by the opposition. Tuck was a real lynch pin in our midfield last year.

mcguane was good on hasellhoff, p_iss poor that he's been in seconds for so long when you consider our deficiencies down back

true
but its been positive for his development. Once dropped for about 4 weeks he was serviceable without being in our best. The past 3 weeks or so you could see he lifted and has come back to the seniors a more accomplished player than he was at the beginning of the season. Cant ask for much more. Good to see him coming on

You surely can't be serious. On past 4 weeks form he has basically become either a greyhound chasing the hare he never catches or at worst a black and yellow witches hat. Time for Coburg..for his sake.

LMAO yesterday watching the warm-ups before the game. Jackson spilled a couple of uncontested marks. No pressure, no opponent! Not a good sign and seemed to carry over into the game!!!

Yep Jackson should definatly be dropped this week. Was very poor yesterday, his decision making and kicking was the worst I have seen it this year. He and Howatt should be the first 2 to make way. Maybe Raines aswell

me thinks the drop is going to be a for a tad more than a week dude. More like permanent is what is install for Jacko.
The tigers are playing players that dont have basic skills remember. LOL, sheeeeesh....so going back to coburg isnt going to do anything but maybe improve the basic level, then we await the next decade to unfold, before we attain, AFL level skills...;)

LMAO......we have hyde, tiv and jacko....and port have the burgoynes and pearce...does that kind of tell you the story?
You tend to get a real competitive side happening when the players you have in it, dont need to learn the basic skills, they build on them and hone their matchwinning ones. ;)

Yeh, yeh, yeh. How can i take seriously someone whos Nic advocates the removal of a Richmond player. Shows how much of a jerk you are. We can have opinions but to show it so boldly in your nic is a joke.
Funny thing, Gas is long gone, but you will always be remembered as a tool:D

Players such as Jacko, Hyde and Howat have shown some good signs over the last few months. They all had average games yesterday and would be better off having a run with Coburg. It's time Connors, Hughes and Casserley were brought in. I'd also like to see Raines and Tivva dropped and Peterson and jon given a go. We are badly missing Polo, Deledio and Coughlan. We are missing the hardness in the middle. If those 3 were available, I'd drop Johnson and Tuck in a flash
