When a player goes to rush a point and it goes out of bounds should it be deliberate. Has happened many times this year and the ump usually plays a free kick. The rule states a free kick should be payed when a player "Intentionally Kicks, Handballs or forces the ball over the Boundary Line without the football being touched by another player", so is not really clear. My view is the player didn't intentionally put the ball over the line because they were aiming for the points so it shouldn't be a free kick.

This is true, but I think the AFL umpires have been instructed to automatically pay a free kick in this instance. The comp I'm in goes by the rule book. (no free kick)

The AFL seems do a lot of things against the rule book...
