It's in for 2008. Sure to make a lot of clubs happy and a small minority upset.

Working on the basis of.

1 point Local players
Juniors, Returning players, registered players for 2007

2 points Other leagues
All VCFL including oppostion YVMDFL clubs, VMFL, VAFA

3 points State leagues
VFL, WAFL, SANFL, TAC CUP, etc. etc.

4 points AFL players.

Each club gets 32 points each week

Still some grey areas I think like what is an AFL or State league player returning to his original club worth? And how a 10 year veteran to one club be worth the same amount of points as a recruit in his second year. If Silvan keep a majority of their recruits from this year they'll all be worth one point so they could afford to top up on another 2-3 VFL players. Hard to see many other clubs being able to rise to that level.

Difinately some questions still to be answered, but no doubt will be.
would you argue that Silvan get extra points as they don't have juniors, if so how many??
Does a past player mean that they played at least 1 senior level (reserves also) game, or just that they were on the books? or an u/18 game?
What if a player leaves at u/16 level to play TAC, then gets drafted, they never played for the senior club, are they worth 4? what if a player never got an AFL senior game, are they a VFL (3point player)? or if a player is listed on a VFL list but never played VFL seniors, are they still worth 3?

No way should Silvan get extra points besides that there is other clubs in the same situation the argument that they can't attract players and have no town to pull them from is rubbish. Their 5 mins from Monbulk, Wandin, Seville, Mt Evelyn, 10 min to a couple of EFL clubs. Their problem is more their own doings in being able to retain players, I would say they turn over more players than most other clubs. When you speak to blokes at the pub no one wants to play there unless theres money on offer. A few years back they got about 10 kids from Wandin u/16's to play in there u/18's side. now there would be lucky to be 3 of these kids still there. Some were decent players and couldn't get a game in the one's so they give it away or try somewhere else.

If they go straight back to their original club there regarded as juniors & thus 1 point.
