Hello, all!
I hope it's not too early to be starting this thread, but a friend of mine back in the California who occasionally posts on these boards (his BigFooty handle is Spartacus) have had May 11 circled on our calendars ever since I came back into this country to start preparing for my wedding in earnest.
So that's the premise of this thread. I barrack for the Cats, obviously, and he supports Hawthorn. We, along with all other Cat and Hawk fans, will exchange good-natured barbs as the game approaches. You know-- kinda like the Wesley Snipes character in "White Men Can't Jump". :D
So I'll fire the first salvo... Shane Crawford is Matthew Scarlett's flunkie. :D
Have fun, all...
Cheers,
William

This week's game should be a good match between the Hawks who have had an ordinary start to the season but look to be on the improve and a young Geelong team who are learning and developing their games and ready to take on anything!!
I am looking forward to the game and lets hope we can get Ronnie Burns and Aaron Lord back to boost our on-ball and forward options.
Prediction: Geelong by 16 points
Go Cats!!

Both sides have proven thus far that when they lose, their opposition is going to have to make them lose. These two teams have played some thrillers recently, last year comes to mind where you guys got home by 3 points. Then there were the two games in 99 which Hawthorn won by 2 points (The night match in round 21 that year was my opinion of game of the year)
To me, I feel Hawthorn will match-up better than you guys though. If yous are to win, I believe Benny Graham has to start down back, and Steven King really has to get ontop in the ruck. Geelong have to stop Chick, Thompson, Crawford and etc. This will be another classic match, and will be hard to tip!
Brain says that - Hawthorn will get home by 11 points!
Best of luck to yous, it will be a great match! ;)
Brent Grgic is like a drum, he is always getting beaten.
Aaron Lord is so dumb that, in Geelong, all the blondes tell jokes about him.
Ronnie Burns is so stupid when opponents get close to his ear they can hear Corio Bay.

which part of Far Kew are you from? i might live near ya :)
i'm tipping the cats. king definitely needs to dominate this week, he's been a little down lately i reckon.
i reckon our defence can handle their forwards ok.
but lets hope it stays dry. geelong always struggles in the wet

Hey! I resemble all those blonde jokes, too!! :D
I still think Shane Crawford will be Matthew Scarlett's biatch by 6 p.m. Saturday.
I'll think up something more creative and original later...

William

What a disappointing game today from our guys. I guess it's all part of the experience and learning curve, but today was one game that could have gone either way at the start had we come to play.
Lets hope for a much better four quarter effort at Football Park next week against Port Power.
Go Cats!!

kent kingsley must get the most improved player so far this year for sure.
like the commentators said, we are lacking foot skills and hitting targets. so hopefully that will improve next week and the weeks to come.
i definitely thought this was a match we could win

OK, OK... Crawford was magnificent yesterday (now that I've had a chance to view the tape again)...
And the better team did win. No sense in talking smack about that.
However, if memory serves, the Cats get another shot at the Hawks in the season's final weekend... we'll see how it goes! :)
Cheers,
William
