See it. It's really good. :thumbsu:

My overall feeling was relief because I was worried it'd be similar to the lower standard they've been producing lately. I'll see it again, next time without so much doubt hanging over my head (hopefully that'll add even more enjoyment). Significantly, it actually felt like a movie rather than just a long episode and they weren't just giving token appearances to every two bit character that's been in the show.

Also, the cameo from Tom Hanks is hilarious! I won't give away any spoilers, but do yourself a favour - if you were ever a fan of The Simpsons you should see this movie. :)

I thought that's partly why the movie was disappointing actually. It seemed to try too hard to have a long winded plot and just didn't work. I would've much rathered an extended episode type production.

They left it too late to do a movie. It would have been a perfect time back in the 90s to release one when Bart was a worldwide phenomenon; people were crying out for it. It baffles me that they ignored such an opportunity tbqh.

They weren't happy with the script.

That had three or four scripts written for a movie, but they weren't happy with any of them, so they used them as episodes instead (Kamp Krusty was one).

Saw it this afternoon in Gold Class. Torney was there too. :thumbsu:

Which is why I'm happy they've waited until now. The Simpsons needed a boost. With so much bad publicity over their recent efforts they needed this right now. Making a movie back then just for the sake of making a movie would've just been capitalising on their enormous success. You could argue that this movie was made for the sake of making a movie (it was in their contract) however the timing is good because I predict The Simpsons will become a bit more in vogue and historically the whole show will be looked upon a bit more generously ie. the movie partially makes up for the last few years.

I agree the last three seasons have been somewhat disappointing, but it's still far better than anything else on TV.

Can't wait to see the movie in less than 24 hours from now.

Yay!

And will the movie characters that appear be a regular feature in seasons to come?

And will any characters that appear to die - trying not to give away anything - be coming back or will they cease to exist?

Saw it Thursday night - where I quickly remembered why I never go to Hoyts (it was filthier than Alberton Oval), fantastic movie, one of the best movies of 2007 so far.

Saw it again Saturday night at the new Mitcham Cinemas on the cheap tickets from the club. For a cinema that's less than a week old it's already looking worn, and it's so stale and boring, but then again it's a Wallis.

Anyway back on track, as I mentioned earlier, fantastic movie - I give in 9/10

Saw it tonight with my lad and his mate. Not bad at all. Did at times seem like an overlong episode but it moved along at a nice pace for the most part

7/10

Watched it last night and it was ****ing funny – saw the previews at the beginning of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and it was a truck load better than I though it was going to be.

8 out of 10

singing Tune to Spider-Man Theme Song - Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig. Does whatever a Spider-Pig does. Can he swing from a web? No he *can't*, cause he's a *pig*. Look out! He is the *Spider-Pig*!:D:D

problem is that with all the hype its given, even if it was a 10/10 movie it still wouldnt live up to the hype.

Still better than most other movies out for the moment.

Exactly! I found it interesting that when David and Margaret reviewed it on their show David admitted he had never seen The Simpsons and he gave it four stars.

It is a good movie. It's a very good movie, in fact. I just think people are too quick to compare it to The Simpsons of the early 90s, which is some of the finest film or TV comedy ever made. So I reckon it's pretty unfair to stack it up against that.
