Firstly, well done Eagles tonight, that was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to the game in 2 weeks at TD with my 14 yo son. It's a 1pm game & I'm looking for recommendations for where to eat at or close to TD before the game. Nothing fancy required!

Outside the Telstra dome they have Nando's or pizza or kebabs, don't buy inside the dome just to piss Ian Collins off, also at docklands which is close they have a Red Rooster or at DFO which is next to the train station they have a food hall and downstairs is Hungry jacks or upstairs if you want healthy their is a subway.

Hope that helps.

I am going as well. Should be a good game. Whereabouts do you stay over there? KNow of anywhere good to go after the game etc.

When I went there, the takeaway joints outside the Dome to the east were chockers, but more down the southern end there's a cafe where you can actually sit down and have a decent feed. Lovely Shepherd's Pie that night :)

Spencer St train station (now called "Southern Cross") has food courts at either end. The food court furthest from Telstra Dome has a Nandos. It gets pretty crowded before football matches, but not quite as bad as the Nandos directly outside the Dome.

For day matches, I personally prefer to take my own lunch. Nothing like sandwitches made by my local deli... triple smoked ham, brie, stuffed olives, sun-dried tomatoes... mmmmmmmm.

We stay in Docklands in an apartment style hotel in New Quey. It is almost directly accross from the Telstra Dome. I forgot the name of the hotel (I didnt organise it) but we stayed at the same place about this time in 2005 and it was really convenient. Last time I went to Melbourne for a night game, we went to the Crowne after the game. I'm not sure of any other places unfortunatly. I've only been over there once, this is only my second time.

Chapel St, South Yarra. Stylish strip with lots of pubs/bars/clubs and coffee shops. Can taxi from Southern Cross station or take a train to South Yarra and walk. Would take about 15 minutes.

Chinatown or any of the Asian restaurants on Swanston between Bourke and La Trobe Streets. Decent meal for about $10-12 a head (at the most), I lived on the stuff for a long time when I lived there.

Once you're done, head down to the Bourke St Mall, get on the #86 tram straight to the Dome.

Now that I've seen you're staying in Docklands, then I'm not too sure. I always did the above before heading to the Friday night matches.

Do you eat your pie with a knife and fork Mr. E?

You seem like the sort of bloke that would.

Shepherd's pie, yes. You know, seeing as it doesn't actually have pastry or anything around it...

Normal pies? Oh **** no. I'm strictly a hands man :D
