Hi fellow North Melbourne supporters this board seems appropiate for this post. I am from Canada and a huge Kangaroos fan I see that there are some Canadians on bigfooty which is excellent. I got into AFL a couple of years ago after being introduced to it by some friends I became a Kangaroos fan shortly after. I am a member of the AFANA and help support the Etobicoke Kangaroos got friends from the area make trips over there to watch once in awhile. Anyways glad to be here and help support my beloved club from a far. I didn't purchase a membership this year but I will next year GO KANGAROOS!!!!!! we are looking good this year:D didn't expect that

I get to watch two games a week on TV here. I listen to as many games as I can on AFL.com gameday live. As far as the groups I mentioned Etobicoke Kangaroos are an Ontario based team in the Ontario Australian Football League apprently it's one of the biggest and highest level leagues outside of Australia www.ontariofooty.com (http://www.ontariofooty.com) for some info, also AFANA.com is a North American based group that promotes AFL in North America same as AFL Canada

Thanks for the link, absolutely fascinating that all this is going on and over here we do not know about it.
Does the North Melbourne FC and/or the AFL know about the Canadian Kangaroo team?
If not, you should send them an e-mail with the link so they can read all about it.
Was the original founder of the Etobicoke Kangaroos a North supporter?
I am fascinated how the whole league originated.
Loved reading the player profiles.

Does the North Melbourne FC and/or the AFL know about the Canadian Kangaroo team? I am sure they do since OAFL is connected with AFL Canada and Greg Everett team president and head coach and one of the leagues all time greats is from Australia so there probably known about

The Canadian teams are officially "sister clubs" of the NMFC.

Interesting that both the Canadian teams and the team from Reading in the UK are listed as sister clubs, but neither of the 2 clubs who are "Kangaroos" in the US (1 in Nashville, TN and one in the Oakland/SF Bay area of CA) are listed. The USAFL has a very good relationship with the AFL as far as I know. Many US clubs are associated or official "sister clubs" of the AFL clubs they share a link with. Curious as to why the Roos haven't established an official link.

Thanks for this further info MSG77.
It would be great to know what, if any the international membership figures are for North.
Hopefully with the membership revue underway the club takes the International supporter base into consideration and offers some sort of deal for them to join up.
I had no idea any of these affiliations existed and I am sure nor do many other people, it would be good if these international affiliations could somehow get exposure.
Might try speaking to someone at the club about all of this.

It would be awesome if there were worldwide supporter groups where kangaroos supporters inside that country could come together and share there passion for the club. I know with my team in the EPL, we have a supporter group in australia and the passion is electric.
