Good time to review where the second division is at.
3 teams with a chance for promotion. Alex, Belgrave and Thornton.
Poor old Belgrave face a bye this week. Alex and Thornton should have good wins with Alex playing at home really trying to boost their percentage.

Thornton looking the goods to power through and become minor premiers.....???
Thornton's destiny, in regard to being minor premiers, is in their own hands. Win both games and they finish on top. The ladder on the countryfootyscores.com website hasn't been updated correctly so I'm not sure how close the percentage of the top 3 teams is but I suspect if it comes down to % Thornton would have the advantage there. A big couple of weeks coming up and, with Belgrave lurking close behind, none of the first 3 can really afford to lose a game.
On another note if anyone from Seville reads this please pass on best wishes to the player who broke his leg on Saturday. I'm confident all involved at Boner Park would join me in wishing him a speedy and successful recovery.

The minor premiership is still up for grabs courtesy of a great 6 point Boner victory over Belgrave. A hard fought game with the final margin indicating how close things were most of the day. A wonderful, albeit nerve-wracking, game for the spectators to watch.
Best wishes to Pup and the boys for a victory at Yarra Junction next week. Here's hoping plenty of supporters make the trip down to cheer the team on.
Go Boners.:thumbsu:
Wow just checked the ladder and Thornton dropped around 10% despite the win. Makes the tussle for top spot closer and Thornton not only needing to win but to restrict YJ's score as well. Go Boners!

How are things going down there? Obviously the move has been good.. senior footy wise for Thornton-Eildon and Alexandra. It seems like Yea now want in, will they be taken in?
What are the rules for promotion and relegation?
things goin great in the yarra valley. if the boners had gone to kdfl we would have lost our coach and half of our senior side. A lot have moved down to melbourne for work, uni etc and go back up for the weekend the other way would have been more travelling than cgfl.
Apparently Yea is already in should be good for Th and Alex but have heard rumours that Sth belgrave want out because they don't like the drive. Most teams enjoy the road trip and bus together or stay up for the night.
I am pretty sure if you win the 2 Div flag its a player and member vote to go to div 1.

Yea will be in the Yarra Valley Division 2 competition in 2008 which will be a great addition, especially the ground.
South won't be going anywhere and will be part of the competition in 2008 as well despite the clubs vocal thoughts about the travel issue - I say get over it. Many other clubs travel far greater distances and do it every second week, not just a couple of times each year.

we (belgrave) played south on the weekend and they seem to say its a done deal for south to be in the EFL Div 4 for the 2008 season, as for the flag, if we can get our best team on the park which we've been struggling to do for most of the second half of the year, we should be right up there for the flag.
we (belgrave) ...if we can get our best team on the park which we've been struggling to do for most of the second half of the year...
All 5 clubs would be hoping for the same thing. Not sure about the other clubs but the Boners haven't really had their best team together that often either.
Congratulations to Pup and the boys for finishing on top and best wishes for the finals.
Good luck to Razz and the Boner reserves for their final appearance next Sunday.
Go Boners!

Cracking game today at Warby although the umps tried their best to ruin it in the last qtr. Lucas Smith, what more could be said about this bloke, why is not on an AFL list. The last qtr of a free-flowing match and this guy is jumping into marking contests with 5 other players and coming out with the ball is freakish. But the highlight of the day for me had to be late in the final qtr when he contested a mark in the back pocket, sprinted up the opposite wing to make it to CHF while the ball was coming up the other side, went for the grab, roved his own crumbs, ran clear and kicked the sealing goal from about 30 out. Unbelievable. Im glad i made the trip up there.
Yep it was a ripper game which would have been very worthy of a grand final VS . The Boners got away to a flier but Belgrave reeled them in and there was only a kick or two in it for the rest of the game.
Lucas was amazing in the last quarter in particular. The Belgrave people near us were in awe. Not really wanting to single anyone out in a great team effort but Chrissy Maher (T/E #14) took some really gutsy last quarter marks too.
Congratulations to Pup and the boys and best wishes in the Grand Final.
Only 4 quarters to go for premiership glory. GO BONERS!
yes lucas is a freak, won the game for us. He was on Stkildas list 5 years ago but lost a bit of interest and went travelling then played for Springvale and Frankston so has played some good footy but enjoys playin with his mates now.
