View Full Version : Songs You Like From Genres You Hate
Title might have sounded a little strange, but i was just wondering, if you guys have any songs that you like that are from a genre that you would normally hate or dislike.
For me, i really like Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal, even though i really dont like his music at all.
I'm pretty much just into rock, but i also like a number of the Beach Boys and UB40 songs.
Aside from that though, can't really think of any other songs i dont like which i wouldn't classify as rock.

I hate Country and Western, but I like a lot of Hank Williams stuff.
I hate Country and Western but I like the "Canyonero" jingle.
I liked Got the life by KoRn even though i hated the rest of their music

Here's a mega embarrassing one: Rusty the punk rocker since the age of 14 loves Ra Ra Rasputin by Boney M. So much so that he went and saw their (hilariously bad) show at the Crown Casino.

OK, embarrassing confession time.
I sorta, kinda, sorta don't mind C'est La Vie by B*witched. :(
"put your ass into it" by Ice Cube
'Ring of Fire' Johnny Cash
'Lady Marmalade' by whoever did it first in the 70's
I quite like Manowar and Motorhead, but generally don't like 'metal'.

I don't really like dance songs but there's a few I do like.
'Here's Johnny' - Hocus Pocus
'Around The World' - Daft Punk
'I Wanna Rock' - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (!)
And a few Chemical Brothers songs are good.

That's probably nearly as embarrassing as the fact that you go for Tottenham.

Not a big fan of country myself but love 'This Is Not The Way Home' by the Cruel Sea........and it reeks of country......
Was also pretty impressed by Tony Joe White 'swamping' at Byron Bay last year.........guitar, harmonica and a deep voice........at the best music festival in the world - and Ben Harper agrees....... :D
and Lee Kernaghan's Boys From Bathurst was fun on top of the mountain a few years ago............mind you with the amount of alcohol consumed anything could have been good.......:D

Confession time.
I love Jamaroquai. Very close to buying all his albums, and I'm sure I will. Alicia Keys is good for R&B, and she is very talented. Crying at the Discoteque is alright, and I can stand Robbie Williams, but only because he is funny and his humour reaches his music.
Oh, I love Faithless, too.

Jamaroquai and Robbie Williams. Dunno why.... just like them....
I bought the Pet Shop Boys Discography. It was only $12, that's why. :( Only 2 songs I can stand on it, the rest is annoying ****. Now my mate is hooked on them. Christ they ARE ****!!!

'Stan' by Eminem.
Although the more I hate my classmates who love that stupid rap/R&B/hip hop ****, the more I start to hate this song.
