was just wondering whether they are allowed to as yesterday in my junior game we had a player and a runner reported by the boundary umpire.

i always thought they couldnt but i think i am wrong

If the boundary umpire is officially appointed to the game, then yes.

I think you'll find the emergency umpire can also make reports.

Back in the single field umpire days and before video coverage of all games, the boundary and goal umpires commonly made reports.

Yes they did

But now they are under instruction as well to be more watch the ball focus and not the play from instructions from theis superiors. There has still been the odd goal umpire report though.

Boundary Umpires main job is to watch the ball: forget the fights and players scuffling, their main job is to watch the ball and follow it.

Goal Umpires get to sit back and watch the game, so they can make more reports.
