Matthew boyd brushes an umpire and gets fined $2400.

Steve King sits on the shoulders of an umpire, takes a speccie and we all say how funny is that.

Compare Boyd's fine to - Kerr, smacks some civilian in the mouth, gets a criminal record and is fined less than Boyd - $2000

The AFL and Demetriou are a big joke and I am sick of it.

I agree.
If you accidentally make contact with an umpire, you get fined. But if you deliberately jump on his back, then it is OK !!!???
This sets a clear precedent - next time a player is charged with making contact with an umpire, he just has to prove it wasn't an accident, he did it deliberately. Then he'll be let off.

The goal umpire should be suspended because he's in the way.

The umpire who gets in the way of a Matthew Boyd, or anyone, should be suspended.

Get the rule right AFL, then you don't have to do an about face when the rule doesn't quite fit.

King wasnt in the wrong. Ball was still in the field of play and umpire was in the wrong position.

As usual, the UMPIRE was in the wrong position. Or making the wrong decision. Anyone see what im getting at?

why out of everyone that has committed assault did you choose kerr as your example? coincidental or a disguised troll? ;)

as for the fines at least its better than a suspension like what happened a few years back (i think it was a 6 week suspension to a bulldogs player.)

Touchy Feely here.

Read the post. The post isn't about Kerr (who is an example). It's about shitty rules about umpires and the unfair fines.

k?

Mitchell got pushed by an opponent clearly on camera into an umpire and still got a hefty 3000? dollar fine for it.

Absolute nonsense.

Maybe its coz he wasnt talking about forging prescriptions or placing an order with drug dealers this time.

Think of him as the AFL's "generic" crim ....a convenient example.

Same happened to Tom Harley. Its an absolute joke, they are teaching umpires to stand in the wrong positions then punishing players for their own mistakes.

Just don't pay the fines. The AFLPA needs to stand up for the players in this situation. The umpires are expected to get into the right position to judge vague rules, which more often than not is in the players vicinity, so its obvious that they will get bumped every now and again. They just need to accept that its one of the risks of the job.

How should a player get fined for running into an ump. A players goal is to either get the ball or tag his opponent, now he has to do that whilst dodging yellow/orange/pink/green/red maggots

Kerr example because the fines were at the same time. I just can't believe the AFL, they have to get things into propective, I wouldn't want to pay $2400 for brushing an umpire? Its a bigger fine than what Kerr got for his infringement.

It was Todd Curley. Accordign to the AFL website it ended up a two week suspension. However if i recall correctly that was after appeal. It effectively ended his career though cos im not sure if he played another game.

you'd probably get less in a civilian court if you 'accidently' touched an umpire on the genitals.......when he was walking alone......at night in a park....nobody around............

I'll stop.
