Hey guys discuss all news, results and information on the upcomming NTFL and TEAFA competitions.
Sad to hear about the death of Jabiru Bombers player Dwayne Whitehurst. He used to play for Southern Districts and he won the Reserves best and fairest medal last year for Jabiru (Jabiru only have a Reserves side).
Casino Sharks are also back in the TEAFA competition this year.

Just wondering if anyone could give me an update on Palmerston Magpies? How did they fare last season? and how there shaping up for this campaign? ins and outs?
JDC!
14th August 2007, 22:34
They missed out on the finals last year but finished fairly well.
Their best players last year were:
James Imbi
Justin Wilson
Nick Tomlinson
Ewing played alright at full-forward in the second half of the season.

What ever happened to Mark Tyrell? Is he still playing footy with Palmerston? Was a pretty handy footballer and leader of the club, haven't heard his name for a while? Also, is Peter Shephard playing footy with the magpies? Didn't he kick 20 odd goals in a game a few seasons back?

NTFL Challenge
As a introduction to NTFL Football this season the 11 and 12 year old boys who played AFL Juniors will play a round robin carnival representing NTFL clubs. Each game will be scored and the team finishing top and the end of the night will win the NTFL Challenge trophy. All games are going to be played at TIO Stadium under lights.
One lucky player who signs up on the night with a NTFL club will go in the draw to win a jumper and pair of shorts and socks with his favourite club.
There will be a BBQ provided on the night. Games start at 5.30pm and will conclude at 8.30pm.

If he does play for Tiwi Islands at full-forward he should kick a few, Tiwi games are always very high-scoring.

Yeah they have lots of skill and speed, just lacking a bit of height. Rioli wasn't tall but gave em some experience, weight (:p) and a good mark and kick up forward, not sure if they could replace it with all small crumbers

Is there a Magpie team in this comp? I know that was a team in the Tiwi Islands league known as the Magpie-Geese, I watched them in the 2005 Grand Final, from memory they lost.
I am going to keep an eye on this one I saw a game at Marrara between I think St. Mary's and Wanderers that was played during the rain and it looked as if they were playing in a swimming pool.
Glad ABC2 is showing the league again this season.

He is still at Norwood and will coach our reserves in the Finals. Personally I would have liked to have seen him as our Senior Coach but they reappointed Trevor Hill. Brett has worked his way up through the coaching ranks at Norwood, and coached the under 19's for a few years.

Redline, how has Iggy Vallejo been going down there for Norwood? Up here many people would rate Vallejo higher than Wonaeamirri yet 'Aussie' seems to be playing more seniors.
Also I've always thought that Iggy was a lot taller than him yet on the Norwood website it shows that Austin is taller.

Aussie has been fantastic, he is class above the majoirty of others players inthe competition. I would presume he would get drafted.
Iggy has struggled to break into the leagu side on a regular basis, I think he should have played more as his reserves form has been good and he hasn't looked out of his depth at league level by any means. It's been a bad year for us on the field so perhaps that has had some effect on his confidence. I would love to see him back next year at Norwood, not sure if that is going to happen though.

Tiwi Islands beat Palmerston by about 30-40 points.
Darwin beat Wanderers by a point after a goal from outside 50 in the last couple of seconds.
Waratahs beat Southern Districts by about 30 points.
The TEAFA officially started their season today.
Casino Sharks had their first game back in the Reserves competition since they got kicked out of the competition. Unfortunately for them they lost by 153 points to University who are probably the second worst team in the competition. 25.15.(165) to 2.0.(12) was the final score.
In other Reserves games, PINT defeated Jabiru and Tracy Village defeated Banks.
In the A-Grade, Banks defeated Tracy Village in the Grand Final rematch and Combined Services beat University.
