ok, its business end of the season, only a few weeks out till september... its important to have the experienced players step up!

so, if you could only pick out one player, who do you think needs to "fire up"...

-leo back in to get some defensive game time?
-jude to be more imposing in the middle?
-barry hall to be more than just a big body around the HF?
-mickey O to show more magic?

etc etc

im gona pick out davo here, in the last 7 games he's averaged 1.5 goals.

im waiting for him to consistently have 3-4 goal games! doing wat he does best, kicking goals with his deadly right (sometimes left ;) boot!!

For me it would have to be Tiger. He's just travelling right now. His defensive work has been pretty solid, and he's working his arse off, but he's found it a bit harder to pick up that impressive touch that had him pencilled in for AA status before he did his knee. I'd love to see him just open up with more of those atttacking thrusts again right in time for the finals. :thumbsu:

I can't believe Hall was not mentioned.
If Hall gets into form, he brings other players into the game.

If he gets into form, we will win the premiership  (big call!)

O'keefe has been down as well. Seems the work rate is still there but he's not getting the ball enough. We need his marks and I50. His kicking for goal is still the worst out of all our forwards.

Kennelly as stated, probably injury related, his disposal has been shit.

Hall, injury related obviously, I think its both his groin and knee which they are hiding.

Ablett and Richards are still not convincing.

If any of these guys can improve their game by finals time we'll definately be firing.

Prior to last Saturday night he has not been convincing but Richards proved his worth in shutting down Riewoldt and keeping him to just 1 goal...sterling effort!

Seems like Richards needs a very specific, (and difficult) task to actually contribute something useful to the team. If he can shut down a dangerous opponent like that every game, we'll be laughing.

The problem is Leo should be coming back and he'll get the best (or better)opponent and Richards will continue playing his usual rubbish.

I was more thinking along the lines of his shocking disposal and how he is like a deer in headlights when he gets the ball.

I don't think Richards has ever been particularly weak for us at any point this year. But Richards has clearly lifted when challenged by the coaches to do so (only Leo's and Lrt's injuries kept him afloat this month). So I would say that Teddy has already fired up just as Amon, Goodes and Schnieder did after the group highlighted their form.

I just think one of our strengths this year is how much pressure there is for positions. Roos has had the luxury of dropping quality players (Amon, Schneider, Dempster, Schmidt etc) whilst keeping the pressure up on players like Richards to perform all year. And it has worked particularly well for our backline. We just seem hungrier as a unit than we looked in the first month. Bevan and Mathews are other players who have lifted their games to cement a spot. Mathews in particular over the last 6 weeks is probably in the best form I've seen from him in 3 seasons.
