View Full Version : Guess who I saw the other day......
........walking down London's Regent Street non other than the greatest cricket commentator in the world-Richie Benaud.
Have to say the great man looked a bit of a miserable bugger in real life so I was put off annoying him with some of the many cricket questions I have thought of asking him over the years, although I regret not tearing down Regent's Street doing an imaginary fast bowling action & turning round to him & screeching 'Owzat'.I doubt he would have been impressed.
I saw him on telly the next day saying how he hasn't experienced a winter since 1962 (& that was a n Aussie one) so i don't why he looked so miserable the lucky b@st@rd.

Yes, looks like I can't go anywhere these days without being recognised, although it's good you didn't mistake me for Darryl 'bloody' Eastlake! That really gives me the sh*ts when people do that, it really does!
Anyway, you should have come and said hello. It's always nice to talk to people about the game of cricket. I am very much looking forward to working once again with the BBC for the upcoming English summer of cricket. It should be a very close series with India coming here for some test matches and one day games.
Regent Street is certainly one of the most marvellous streets in the world, especially when you own both Bond Strret and Oxford Street as well, as you then can start building houses on them and collect quite a bit of rent.
There's a good story that goes along with that back in 1960-61 when the late Sir Frank Worrell led his fine West Indian team to Australia.....

You are just lucky you have never bumped into Mike Sheahan on the streets. How underwhelming
Thoroughly unimpressed.

I'm usually a lucky bastard and land on the community chest, the stations, the free parking, anything other than the ones with houses on them!! :D:D:D
DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200!! :D:D:D
