I'm always listening to Zeppelin, Hendrix and SRV.
For the past year, I've been working on my Jazz guitar and have been buying a lot of that. I'm kind of tired of it and it's starting to seem more like homework than fun. I need a break.
Lioness, I'm open minded and in the mood to buy some CD's. I seem to remember you indicating in a past post that the Beach Boys had actually recorded some serioius stuff. By that I mean music that isn't all surf/boys screaching as though they've had their jewels cut off. Is there an album like that you recommend? I'll buy it and give it an honest go. Peace,
Mooster

. Will Haven - 'Carpe Diem'
excellent choice. I myself aint a big fan of the white stripes, they remind me of any indie band, they sound *raw* cause they can't play properly. bmc are definatly more my band of the momment, anythin sounding like jesus lizard is good. the international noise conspiracy new album is good, as is refused- the shape of music to come, for a sunday afternoon after my teams lost :( not happy jan!

Great to see some Rush fans on here.
Can't say I like the new single much, but they can release crap for the next 20 years and it wouldn't taint their musical legacy.
A shame that they have never played a show in this part of the world, and somewhat surprising considering they always play in Europe and occasionally Japan. Seen them only once (in 1992) and it is a tragedy that I haven't since; on every subsequent tour after that I had conflicts whenever they came to the area.
Five most played (well, eight actually, but three are the same artist):
Rush - All the World's a Stage, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves
Ben Folds Five - (self-titled)
Chicago - The Heart of Chicago
Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There (The Wall live, 1980-81)
Steely Dan - The Royal Scam

Hmmmm.. at the moment.....
K's Choice - Cocoon Crash
Kasey Chambers - Barricades and Brickwalls
Jewel - This Way
Josie and the Pussycats - Soundtrack
Splendid - Have you got a name for it
Though I regularly cycle through my music, those are the most recent.
Have something like 6000+ mp3s on my machine - at some point I decided it's too much trouble walking the 2 metres to my CD rack and encoded 300 or so of my CDs into mp3s! :D

and the new Rockmelons song, i cant remember what its called but its good.
I bought the new Sonic Youth Album yesterday, "Murray Street". It's great to hear that these New York legends have maintained their high standards.
Also received in the mail the new Curve album, "The New Adventures of Curve" (it's only available over the Net) and after only one listen, I must say this is the best album I've heard since their "Come Clean" album in 1997. The Prodigy meets Sonic Animator with Toni's dark, dark lyrics disturbing and provocative as always.

5. Deep Dish - Yoshiesque (mellow trance...good cd)

Slayer. ****ing brutal!!
New Eminem is ruining my head. I try to stop listening, but it just keeps sucking me in!
New Weezer is great!
Still flurting with the new Silverchair album. Dunno if i hate it or love it!
Taking the time to listen to some albums i bought ages ago but never gave them the full spin like S.C.I.E.N.C.E by Incubus and Tool's latest.
Picked up new Body Jar and am slightly disappointed. Big wrap for those dudes but this latest offering is a little predictable.
Must get Korn tonite!

Just yesterday, I ripped most of my CDs to mp3's so I can listen to all the tracks in any order. Which is what I'm doing at the moment. So for me, it's more like the 41 hours of fave things I'm currently listening to.
Now all I have to do is figure out exactly why I told you guys that.

Sorry I'd only listened to half the album the previous night. Too blown away with Curve's new CD. Anyway I was very impressed, it was big improvement on thier last album "NYC Ghosts and Flowers" which was OK, but below their normal high standards. It has a good mix of "structured" (If you can call their songs structured) songs as per "A Thousand Leaves" and "Sonic" songs from the late eighties early, nineties albums. "Karen Revisited" is a 10 1/2 minutes masterpiece of sound. You swear you are listening to their Masterpieces, "Daydream Nation" or "Goo" (My Fav SY Album), but my favourite track is "Radical Adult Lick Godhead Style", it a fusion of everything thats great about SY, the wall of sound created by Ranaldo and Moore and the deep bass of Gordon, absolutley brilliant.
It wont win any extra fans, but its a great SY album.
