QUARTER TIME:
Port 7.1.43
Geelong 1.3.9
Port had the wind and made full use of it in the 1st quarter. Geelong made 2 errors which cost goals and Port got a couple of lucky breaks, and has made all the difference.
Lets hope we can come back in the 2nd term.

This is a really disappointing perfornance from Geelong. Sure, Port are a better side, no question about that but Geelong just aren't giving enough of a contest around the ball and that's the most disappointing thing. Too many of our players look confused as to what to do or how to go about it which I guess comes with the territory when you're a young side with not too much experience.
Kent Kingsley is yet again our best forward with 2 goals and Gary Ablett Jnr. looked good when he came on, creating a couple of scoring opportunities and kicking one himself. Matthew Scarlett is going ok down in defence, Joel Corey is getting a few touches but basically, we're being outclassed by one of the best sides in the competition.
Here's hoping we can make a game of it in the 2nd half, otherwise it's going to be a very long afternoon.

THREE QUARTER TIME:

Geelong 6.10.46
It was a much better 3rd term from Geelong except for the last 5 minutes where we let Port kick 3 late goals to undo all our hard work to get back into the match.
We started to win some of the contests around the packs and put some pressure on Port with Ling, Corey, Wojcinski, Sanderson and Riccardi getting a few touches. Ben Graham went back to defence and did some good work, while Chapman & King did a few good things as well.
Here's hoping we run out the last term and put some respectability on the scoreboard. It's a learning experience for our young team, we must put pressure on the opposition for the ENTIRE quarter and not let it slip!!

Every game this season is a learning experience for us and today was certainly no exception. We just need to work on our skills and decision making as at times it is woeful and we are made to pay for those errors every time!!
In my opinion, we simply don't get enough out of our so-called better and most experienced players who make errors at vital times. Sure, when say a Bartel or Rooke or someone who hasn't played many games makes a mistake, they will learn from it and get better with experience but when a Sholl or Riccardi makes an error, you have to wonder!! :confused: :confused:

We need to look at making a few changes in the coming weeks, one being the inclusion of Peter Street who will win more hit-outs then he loses and will give our midfield first use of the ball. Today, we were killed in the middle of the ground, and were always starting on the back foot.
Still, not all hope is lost yet. We're 3-5 but with 3 very winable games in the next 3 weeks against Western Buldogs and Melbourne at home, and Carlton at Colonial Stadium. We just need to regroup and look at the way we are approaching the games, and believe in each other's abilities.

Seindude, we are hopeless. There's no pride from most of the team and the coaching staff are useless. It's times like this I couldn't care if we weren't around anymore. They just disappoint me that much.

We didnt have the breeze. THe wind...which was very strong...was going from members side to outer side and favouring the southern end (right of screen). So really there wasnt any advantage at all....and if there was one, the flags were favouring Geelong in the first quarter.

If this was true, how come players were kicking further to the left of screen, the end Port kicked to in the first quarter??? Cornes kicked a goal that carried on the breeze towards the end of the quarter and Dew was kicking in nearly to the centre, whereas Geelong players were barely kicking 45 metres!! ;);)
