Went to the match today. Cotchin is an absolute gun. Reminds me of Dal Santo. Great kick, fantastic evasive skills, fast etc etc. He's got it all. Kreuzer looked like a man playing against boys. I can't recall him missing a hit out. His second efforts were excellent and he was good in the air and on the ground. He rests in the forward pocket and he's going to be a nightmare to match up. Kicked two goals. He is one big unit and I reckon he's ready to play afl straight away. Vespremi was impressive as was Meredith and Bongetti. Princes Park was in great nick-such a pity we don't play there anymore.

Yeah went and saw the game.......I
Kreuzer did not dominate the ruck contests or the game in a big way, but it is obvious he moves around the ground extremely well for a big guy, has a great work rate, good intensity, and is very good at ground level.
He would have spent 10 mins a qtr deep in the forward line.
Took 1 overhead mark that was quite easy for a goal, and in the last qtr snapped a goal from 25 m on the left foot.
His work at ground level is exceptional but I am not convinced about his ruckwork. Only took 2 or 3 contested from marks from memory ( 1 being the easy for a goal ). His disposal is good without being elite.
Not a beanpole like Hammer was on arrival at the club and would be surprised if he didnt get a decent go in his first year.
No weaknesses in his game with his main strength being endurance and work at ground level.
Cotch was tagged and was still good but in my view didnt dominate the game either, except for a brief period in the 3rd qtr.
He was clearly the classiest player out there with by far the most damaging disposal on the ground. He took a couple of excellent contested marks and looks to be well above average for his height overhead. Tackled hard also. Think he has a lot to learn in respect to dealing with being tagged. Also has a reasonable frame on him and will not need years to get his body strength to required level.
Pat Ves played as a permanent forward pocket/ hff and kicked 2 or 3. Wasnt overly flashy but seemed to take the correct option every time. Has a very strong body on him, especially backside/legs. prefers to get back on his right boot than kick with the left.
Hurley was very impressive as a key back and has some genuine agression as well.
Ineligable this year but you can see why he is already being touted as a top 3 pick next year.

Right, so the hype about Kruezer and Cotchin sounds fair enough.

The BIG V was impressive without being absolutely dominant today. Reminded me physically of a young Gardiner but 'hunts' the contest more like a young Hamill! Had a very quiet 2nd Q resting up forward but then won just about every tap contest through the 3rd. Started to take a few marks around the ground and kicked a nice snap goal in the last.
Cotchin was BOG. Great balance, strong through the hips, great acceleration and a good vertical leap too. The full package.:thumbsu: Buggered if i know which of these two should be no 1 pick.
Vespremi impressed too. He's very strong already with obvious intensity. He's a good finisher and i liked his vision too. If he's still around he may even be worth our 2nd rounder certainly our 3rd.
Overall, i was very impressed with the standard of this game - particularly with the defence and discipline of both teams. No 5 for Geelong - Nick Smith i think - was also super impressive for mine. He's quick and strong, great talker, strong at the contest with good hands and vision.;)
how did Henderson go for Geelong? supposed to be another early draft pick
I'm starting to think I'll be happier if we win against Melbourne that way we don't have to worry about whether to pick Kreuzer or pick Cotchin!

I'll be happy with second pick and Cotchin.

Can't decide between these two guns, so let's win so we get neither. Great recruitment strategy

Win so we can avoid making a decision? wtf?

He was ok, however, he is starting to move around the ground much better since he has come back from injury. Looked dangerous when the ball went into the forward line, and gets to as many contests as he can. Will be a top 10 selection for sure.
