this might sound nieve and simplistic, but with all the woes and talk over injuries and limping into the finals etc, we STILL have the second best defense if the comp. Given that fact, if our forwards could muster a bit of accuracy and actually kick straight for just 5 weeks, which really shouldnt be a massive ask for a professional forward line, who up until quite recently was still very highly regarded, wouldnt that go pretty close to seeing us contend another GF??. If Schneids, Buchannan, McV, Goodes, Jolly, could ad a few, we'd be looking alot healthier.

Good point! Our forwards radar, needs fixing. That and their ability to pressure
opposition backlines,if we start doing that again now! Perhaps!
Or even moving the ball quickly so we can get the ball to dangerous spots in the Forward 50 that are easier to convert from.
It's no use playing the chipping out wide game at the moment even though it has served us so well over the last few years when we can't convert chances from deep in the pocket or out on the boundry line, where a lot of our shots on goal are coming from.

100% agree. I'm pretty sure Roos realised that at the beginning of the year; our chip kick along the boundary line and with opposition willing to man up, we just find it hard to mark in contest. Its rare and with the flooding happening in most teams against us, we can only find space deep in the pockets or we are restricted to kicking goals at a really tight angle. We need another approach and in the first half of the season, our attacking was really good when were trailing for most the time.
Pumping the ball long and allowing our forwards loads of space is what Swans can do when we are trailing with minutes go. We saw that against Essendon when we lost by one point. I think we trailed 19 points with 3 minutes to go, and we just pumped it long.
However in saying that, you've got a good point their Swannykika. I just hope it does pan out like that during the next 4-5 weeks (thats if we are still in the finals).

Agree pumping the ball long is a great idea, but the ball has to come in quickly
before the opposition defence can man up. If we f---k about on the wings, before pumping the ball in,its a waste of time! Thats why we miss Leo
and Tadhg, both players, win the ball and immediately head straight up the centre corridor.Route 1 its called. Finest example of this play, this season has to be Geelong. The modern game plan revolves around the backline winning
the ball and using route 1,thus cutting out the oppositions midfield, well thats
my theory anyway!
