A wooden spoon is just a stupid theory. If we finished last we finished last, we still have a pretty good record on the ladder due to our proud past. If we are to win another spoon that would make it 4 which is equal 9th overall.
Wouldnt u accept a Kruezer and Morton for us to receieve a spoon?

Richmond should be congratulated on their honourable wooden spoon which they didn't even need to tank in order to receive. :D

Well done tiges!

Gilly... believe it or not, some supporters are still old school Carlton supporters, who find it very hard to bow down to accepting and supporting losses as a way of going forward.

BRAVO !!!! AWG you hit the nail on the head....old school....old school is throwing money at the top players and buying yourself a premiership, new school is getting the cream of the crop of the kids via the draft when you (unfortunately) get the opportunity....that is what you 'old schoolers' are finding difficult to grasp :p

Yeah. But the funny thing is, every year, around this time of the year, Carlton people start crying out about one or two kids who we "Must" pick up at draft time....it's like the Draft is a once off... instead of happening every year

Anyway, who do you think the Blues will pick up Gilly? Do you think Richmond will go past Cotchin?

I have to agree with Gilly here on this one.
Whilst both these boys weren't at the absolute best, several cameos from both had our little Carlton group in raptures.

Our only hope now is that Richmond do what they have done in the past, and pick one from "left-field" at #2, so we can get our hands on both.

BRAVO !!!! AWG you hit the nail on the head....old school....old school is throwing money at the top players and buying yourself a premiershipNo old school is about realising that Carlton is as much about pride as it is about simply winning. About wanting to protect the brand as much as possible, about realising that artificially inflating our prospects does not hold as much weight when we win as doing the hard yards does.

It is over now after tomorrow. Probably there will be something in it for everyone. Pro-tankers will have the priority pick and the all important number one, anti-tankers have avoided the spoon and know that the history books will not show 3 spoons in a row.

Not really ODNs.

We now know that we have a proportion of the supporter base who are happy to lose matches if the price is right.

Sounds like more fence sitting to me. Tomorrow is nothing about spoons, that issue has been sorted. You either:

A. Want us to win and lose #1 pick

B. Want us to lose and win the #1 pick

C. Give a non-committal answer and then preach the high morale ground when we gain the #1 pick

I choose B, but totally understand and respect those who choose A :)

Actually Gilly, new school, like old school still sees the teams that consistently win games playing finals while those that consistently lose games don't play finals. Sydney, West Coast, Adelaide, Geelong (except for last year) have mostly been winning games over the last few seasons & are playing finals. Carlton have most been losing games & therefore finishing near the bottom of the ladder.

While Brisbane were consistently winning games they won 3 premierships. In recent seasons, since their wins became less frequent, they have stopped winning premierships & are not playing finals. Winning = successful, losing = unsuccessful. End of story.

This is true, we need to bring the winning ways of carlton back into the club. We should not be tanking, which we aren't. just half of our team will get very sick within the next 4 hours. lol. But i believe either way we are a winner. and i just wanna laugh at richmond fans cos they are s***
