^ That's right, although it can't happen that way in reality. Carlton and Melbourne can't both get a PP.

Wrong. Dees lost their PP last night, so it is 18 Richmond, 19 Richmond, 20 Carlton, 21 Melbourne.

That is all that is confirmed at the moment. The 2 losers of the elimination finals this weekend will fill 10 & 11 depending on who was ranked lower at the end of R22.

With 3 selections in the top 20, Carlton can look forward to getting another quality mix of talent into the club. :thumbsu:

Can someone explain why Carlton get pick 1 and 3 despite finishing 15th? I know, probably a stupid question.

Is 1 and 2 too unfair?

I'm confused about this too. Why don't Richmond get pick one?

Carlton gets pick one because it won 4 games or less two seasons in a row, that is the priority pick, then Richmond gets pick two for finishing on the bottom of the ladder and then Carlton gets pick 3 for finishing 2nd last..

Because Richmond finished on the bottom and won 4 games or less it gets a priority pick at the beginning of round 2(pick 18) and then gets pick 19 (1st actual pick of 2nd round)for finishing on the bottom..

When the AFL changed the priority pick rule i dont think they thought any team would actually win 4 games or less 2 seasons in a row,Carlton proved them wrong....

Pick 1 is the priority pick for winning 4 or less games 2 years in a row. Carlton did that.

This is what the media has been harping on about for the last 6 weeks and why everyone has been saying Carlton were tanking as 1 more win and they would have missed out on the no. 1 & 3 picks and just got 2 or 3.

I was debating this with a mate the other day:

Do Carlton get the # 1 priority and also get a priority pick at the end of the first Round? eg:

18. Richmond (PP)
19. Carlton (PP)
20. Richmond
21. Carlton
22. Melbourne, etc....
