Sydney will most likely tank this one which is a shame. Can anyone see this being a contest or will the Hawks win by 60+?

Yeah

Cause what the swans want to do is go into the finals without winning the last 3 games.

Tanking this is bullcrap.

why do you think they'll tank it?
Resting a few key players, and the fact that nothing rides on this result for the Swans in terms of improving their finals situation. If you look at the likely draw, they'll be better off finishing 8th than 7th. Hawthorn will probably be hungrier for a top 4 spot as well.

Still, I don't think it will be a blatant tank on the scale of Carlton or Richmond yesterday, but Roos gives the impression that he won't be trying too hard to win this. I would say they should try to win though - It would give the Swans a bit of momentum leading into the finals which is always beneficial.

it doesn't bother me who wins today as i ended up backing both teams in my multi bets this week (but if the swans win i collect more) so as long as it doesn't end up being a draw, i'll be collecting more $$ this weekend from the tab.

anyway my prediction is for hawthorn to win by less than 3 goals with Mitchell getting around 25 possessions & Franklin kicking at least 3 goals.

I tipped Hawtorn to win, which if they do puts the AFC against Collingwood at the MCG..not really my preferred option. I just think Hawthorn are a better team than the one Sydney have on the park atm.

Prefer Sydney to win and the AFC play Hawthorn but I also have 8/8 + $$$ riding on a Hawks win

Buddy Franklin warming up for the finals series.
IMO I believe Hawthorn will go very far and if any team I want to avoid would be a Franklin firing Hawks.
On todays game Franklinb will kick 8.

2 goals in a few minutes, theres enough intent to suggest there not tanking.

As to the resting of a few key guys they have also brought back Leo Barry after severel weeks off and playing Micky O who got hurt last week and Malceski who is playing injured.

Memo to umpires: please don't serve up the same b/s as you gave us in the match between these teams earlier in the season.

(EDIT: Oh hell ... they've already started ... two completely different interpretations of HTB against Davis and then Sewell.)

That's why I was considering whether they'd tank the game or not and it's what stopped me putting a bet on :( I knew they were ridiculous odds but thought there must have been a reason for them - turns out there wasn't.

What's wrong with Mitchell? The Hawks' season on the line here.

2 Sep 2007, 14:45
Really that was an eight minute purple patch for the swans and after that they lost their disposal into the forward line and LRT looked awful.

Hopefully Roos can get the refocus on what they were doing and keep the ball moving, The ruck duel was good though and the Hawks were winning it which gives them hope if their midfield starts running they could break the centre open.
