Gave us some run and kept all his opponents quiet. I think Ratten should use him as our no.1 defender and not muck him around in the forward line.
I would also like to acknowledge Paul Bower's courage, he backed back to take some marks and fears nothing. I think he is the opposite of a dud and a good future prospect.

With Kruezer our likely #1 pick, I think Setanta's forward-line opportunities are going to be limited. Kruezer, and to a lesser extent Hampson will be the talls rotated through the forward line. Still think the occasional roles up forward this year helped his all round development though. Setenta is an ideal match-up for opposition resting rucks. :)

That's actually the third time in three weeks that Bower has backed back with his eyes on the ball.
He outmarked Jones last week by backing back. :thumbsu:
Bower could be anything with the right development and has a huge upside.
I think he'll be a better player than Goldsack who is one year older than Bower and playing good footy for the Pies. Their development coaches in Richardson and Scott have done a great job to fast track their draftees into senior football. Our defence is taking to shape with athletic talls like Setanta, Austin, Jamison and Bower likely types.
No room for Flint.

Man, I hope those rumours floating around a few weeks back of Bower wanting to return back to WA are false. He's shown a lot down defense and definitely has potential. Improving with every game and seems a lot surer with his disposal than he was in his first few games.
he's an odd one Bower isnt he? Looks gangly, and very unconventional, but he's def got somethin about him that makes me think he's gonna make a fine backman for us. Think his decision making has come on in leaps and bounds, and seems to have a very cool head (note- not a haircut reference)
And agreed, can think of a few instances now where he's run with the flight and ive thought he's gonna get killed. Shows a ton of courage

He's definately someone i have doubted at times. But he has definately shown some vast improvement in the past few weeks.
Let's hope he continues to move forward - he was great tonight.

I have a better one lined up if we draft you know who. ;)
Bowers choice of drink for the next 6 weeks should be a shot of Bourbon with PROTEIN SHAKES.
he is starting to get the natural feel for the game. had about 15 games now and finding his feet.
good work, love the kid. Mini Vinnie he is!!!

No room for Flint.
I have been saying that most of the year.
It's not great to admit that you have a player on the list that will not make it, but it happens. They all cannot be 200 game players.
We now have the individual players to build a truly great defence. The challenge now is to get them working well together. :)

I think it's the way he handballs that makes his play look awkward.
He's one of the few players that still handpasses with 'topspin' as opposed to 'backspin' (for want of better terms of reference).
Very courageous and seems to relish body contact and contests -will be very handy in our backline with a few more kg's on his frame!

I just figured out the same thing with his handballing.
He did some dodgy ones earlier this year & everyone accused him of panicking.
I think his technique is a bit dodgy & needs some work. This should be easily fixed.
He showed enormous courage in his debut match against Pies last year, nearly got killed.
