I sat there on Sat, inspired by the Bombers, seeing the magic of what Hird, Lucas and Lovett can do do when they turn it on..And yes, throughout the contest you had some winners and highlights..The ending fitting for two legends, immortilised in the game forever!!

But sadly it may grow much darker for the dons, the imposters of the AFL.
Essendon in 2002 -2004 were never going to win a premiership but were held high by their champions..their reward..Average draft picks.. In the few years that followed their demise began and their real plight was covered by the very stars that would soon retire or have There rewards, a pick 2 and couple of higher ones..all KPP - 2 should make it..

2007 was a year in which James Hird was a factor in each of your first 7 wins, so was Fletch and co.. Hird, Davey went and your season went awry, the end result 12th Position.

Carlton today yielded a further Pick 1, 3 and 20. This adds to the previous picks 1,1,2,4,9,17,19 in the last 4 years with many more young stars to build around. It will be interesting in the next 3-5 years where the Bombers and Blues will be..
My view is short term pain for Carlton will provide long term gain for the Old Dark Navy Blue in the years to come, The bombers have a aging list, 2 good KPP drafted in the last few drafts and a select few youngsters like Lovett, Davey? Hislop, Ryder, Stanton are only the so called 200 plus gamers most clubs would really go out for..

The next few years will be very rewarding for the Essendon faithful..Hopefully you can replenish via the draft that has so happily paid back Carlton over the last 3 years. While we see one team rise , we can only watch in wonder if the AFL takes away the priority picks in the coming years that have benifeted many clubs before. One could say that the sanctions imposed back in the 2002 netted a much greater reward in the long term for the old dark navy Blues!!

IMposters I cannot tolerate but even worse is that there much truth to what you say.

Hard for a bomber man.

But it sits poorly that I do feel the blues rolled over for picks. Your list is not nearly as bad as your performances and some of your predictions based upon draft selections may come true. Nonetheless it against the real spirit of what football is about. Perhaps the system conspired the events as they panned but to see blues supporters cheering Lance's 4 points and out of bounds makes me feel sad for a club that I love to beat.

When Fraser Brown dragged down Dean Wallis at least I could respect an old foe

Essendon of 2000 is much like Carlton of 95... took a few years for the gloating of that successful year to finally bring us back to earth... and only now are both teams starting to rebuild from that.

Essendon took the top up approach to a degree, much like we have in the past. But I think with a new coach they'll now embrace youth over experience.

As for us we know how we're going.

I would like to disagree but I cannot, and i fully understand the importance of the recent draft selections you have acquired. I just think it is a shame that a proud club has to be reduced to such antics to secure its future. Mind you better board management over the last 10 years might not have placed you in this dilemma
