have it on good authority that he is chasing a 3 year deal but adelaide are only looking at giving him two years. I know he has had some injuiries but looks to have overcome them this season and is a very strong ruckman and works really hard around the ground. I doubt Lade (31yrs old) would leave Port, Hudson is 28 years old and could provide us with 3 good years whilst our younger guys develop around him. He was a keen carlton supporter as a kid and i know would jump at the chance to return to melb and play for the blues. Your thoughts IF we went down the path of recruiting an established older ruckman for a few years whilst Kruzuer, Hampson etc develop.??

Charman is the best option for us. If we can't get him I don't think Hudson is in the right age group and he probably isn't a good enough player. He might struggle in a less talented side.

I would look at McDonald at the Lions as a second option or even Jolly

id rather stay away from getting an uncontracted ruckman

lets do with what we have and develop that!!

i would prefer to give Aisake and Hammer 10- 15 games each next year than bring in another ruckman that may struggle.

Not saying he will struggle but i would prefer not to draft him!

NO. He's a good player, but only good. If we wont someone for our young rucks to learn off then we wont better then a good ruckman.
Lade >>> Charman >>> no one else worth it who we have a chance of recruiting.

put this man in charge. we have ruckmen, they are ready or on the verge of being ready.

Here here...I almost got eaten alive last week for suggesting we stay away from Meeson and develope our own rucks. We have unbelievable talent/potential with Aisake and Hampson (and possibly Kreuzer) the club needs to concentrate on these guys.

thanks mate. if only i could help on the selection panel!

but no doubt if we draft another uncontracted ruckman we will stiffle the development of the other ruckman, which is not what we want to do!!

I agree and wasn't suggesting we should go after an uncontracted ruckman but wasmerely asking if we did gothat way how do you think hudson would go. Ratten was quoted last week saying his no.1 objective in the draft is a ruckman, wether that means Krezuer or not i'm not sure but he also said if they can land an uncontracted player he'd be happy.

i agree, if we pick up kreuzer we do not need another ruckman. it would be great to see hammo and big Aisake playin heaps of games rather than some old boy who has had his time. i wouldnt even take charman. we are a young side. we do not need an older bloke intruding.

No more old recycled ruckmen thanks, we have a few of them on the list already. Need to think long-term.

So then you're 100% sure that Cloke's shoulder which has undergone 4 reconstructions in the past four years will suddenly hold up for a whole season?

Or are you happy to still have Ackland as our starting ruck in 2008?

Or do you think that Hampson (19, lightly framed, still learning the game, has played 2 senior games), Aisake (22, still learning the game, yet to play a senior game) and Kruezer (18, lightly framed, yet to play a senior game) will be a sufficient ruck team for 2008?
