Seems to have found another gear under ratts. Stints in the guts have really lifted this kids confidence. 26 quality touches yesterday and he didn't waste one of them.

Pretty close if you ask me. His game yesterday was fantastic.

i just hope that he can play 200+ games for us rather than being a flash in the pan.

GO EDDIE!

He needs to play like he did last night on a consistent basis next year to stay on the list going into 2009 +

His game last night was easily his best, lets hope he gains a poo load of confidence from it.

Midfield time has been a great move.

Good coaching by Ratten.

He has been excellent under Ratts, needed to find another aspect to his game apart from a goalsneak and seems to have done that, was great yesterday.

Not the only one to have improved under Ratts, think we can add Ackland to that list, Bower, even Houlihan and Russell IMO.

Five goals and 26 touches to remain on the list?

Very happy with his game.:thumbsu: He needs consistency and we've seen some of that over the last 6 weeks. In his last 6 weeks, he has had his 4 highest possession games (gone into the midfield).

I'm still laughing at all those people who drew comparisions of (and actually preferred that we played) Ross Young to Eddie Betts

Eddie Betts is a little gun. He'll be a Blue for years to come.

5 goals for a small pocket/midfielder is a pretty good return.

If he keeps it up next year, then he will be around for a long time to come. :D

Nice one Eddie

Brett Ratten has shown that he is an astute coach. The development some of these kids have had over the last 6 weeks will hold them in good stead for 2008. Eddie Betts has found his way under Rats and is due to have a huge impact next season.

He has improved greatly since Ratts took over, which coincided with Eddie moving into the middle for longer periods of time.

Both him and Jacko have improved a lot with more opportunity to prove themselves.

Eddie was sensational last night. 26 quality touches and 5 goals is a very good game. but it wasn't just that it was also his interceptions. i lost count at how many he had.

if he can build his motor for more lengthy periods in the middle and find more consistency look out!

express pace, highly skilled player. i was very happy with what i saw. lets hope he can gain some good consistency!

eddie needs to keep producing this type of performance on a consistent basis.

people need to remember eddie did a lot of work with libba over pre-season and during the season to work on his running capacity to eneable him to play a role in the midfield.

his improved performances are due to the hard work eddie had to pit in to improve himself and be able to play a midfield role.

i think it's a stretch to ask him to kick 5 goals on a consistant basis. If he could kick 5 goals 4 times a year it would be slighty better than outstanding!

Yes. I also think Bentick has improved a lot under Ratts. All of a sudden, not only is he making his tackles, but he's getting plenty of the footy

Eddie's move into the middle has been a masterstroke. Eddie's skill level is outstanding, not only in front of goal, but also as a midfielder providing options to leading forwards. We really need to formerly thank the Richmond Football Club for taking Trent "no possessions" Knobel ahead of us. The Tiges also gave us pick #1 this year, and took the spoon off us. Very generous. Let's just hope the theme continues and Terry "does a Tambling" with his #2 pick. :)

Eddie's last six weeks have been superb.
Averaging 18 disposals since playing more in the midfield, albeit, with a high possession game plan.

I love Eddie, but he has to learn from these past six games.
Obviously Ratt's looks like he may play him in the midfield more often and if he wants to continue this way he needs a big pre-season to get some run in his legs and I'm sure he will do that.

I vaguely remember one of the match committee, and it may have been Sticks saying it, that he saw Ed in a centre bounce situation at training or a practice match where he came in and grabbed the ball before it bounced when both ruckmen missed the tap out. Freakish.
He has the ability IMO, but he needs to use this pre season to set him on his way.

And for the benefit of Hoops222, Eddie has averaged 7 disposals and .75 of a goal against the Swans over the last three years and 9 disposals and 1.5 goals against West Coast over the last three years.
Which when you consider he averages 9.68 possessions and 1.05 goals a game over his career, isn't that bad against the cream of the competition over those three years.

Be good if he could stay off the booze for a while... and at least if he is going to do it, do it descreetly and sensibly, instead of advertising it all over his myspace and acting like a USA homeboy pimp.

Cut the act, and lets just get on with the footy player Eddie, instead of homeboy muthaf((a attitude that he has on his space.

NO WAY

the most improved player under ratten is clearly Ryan Jackson

If you ask me Eddie Betts wont be in our future plans, hes to inconsistent to small and too shit, trade him while he still has value

and draft adam maaric to take his spot with pick #20 if we r lucky

Who cares what eddie did in a PRACTICE match he has to be able to do it in a REAL match which he cant.He is a twosman who should be traded.

Jackson had only played two games before Ratt's came on board.
He hadn't played enough to have anything to improve from!
Maybe he hasn't improved at all yet and this is what his level is at the moment and he can improve next year.

And we didn't ask you about Eddie Betts. He's 20 years old and consistency will come. Just saying he is too shit isn't an argument as to why we should trade him and if he has value for someone else to pick up, don't you think on his form from the last six weeks, that he has some value for us to keep?

Eddie is too small at 173 cm but Maric isn't at 179 cm which is the same height as Marc Murphy, who has been criticised for being too small. Bentick is five cms taller than him. Give me a break.

I've actually seen him do it a couple of times in the last six weeks which you wouldn't have as you don't watch carlton games. You are too busy having NANNA NAPS!!!

Certain we've not seen all that Eddie has to offer yet. If he can improve that tank, we know how good his defensive pressure can be. I think his natural reflexes are freakish and his front and square work on the weekend was first class. 'What have you done for me lately Eddie!?'.:D

if you consider that the intensity was lower in this match, then it's interesting that it didn't drop off for Eddie. He is trying his best 100% of the time. We don't want that sort of crap at our club!!

He is a twosman because he has been in the system long enough now and he is still a fat little porker who tires after running 25mtrs.Big deal if he played well against the 2nd bottom team who were missing 11 of their best players. As for rokhead i am down at the club all the time helping out behind the scenes and i can assure you the club are looking at trading him.Go away eddie and waste some other clubs time.

You dont know how stupid you sound. I've read some incredible stuff on here but your post takes the cake. Oh yes, we are definately looking at trading a guy who has had a miracle 6 weeks and looks to be getting in great form;) And hey! Why dont we trade Fevola and Fisher for Steven Armstrong! Sounds like a bloody good idea. Bugger off and tell your bullshit stories somewhere else because fans who actually have a clue are complimenting Eddie, not bringing him down. He was the ONLY one who put in hard yards on the weekend and im sure you couldn't run full tilt for 80 minuts. And as for Eddie being a waste of time? Your being a waste of MY time because I have to sit here and type how stupid you are. Bugger off, or at least give a TRUE opinion.

5 Sep 2007, 21:25
BTW, Eddie was only over weight for a couple of weeks and they were the first of his playing career, and it was a result of depression because no club picked him up. WE gave him a chance and he is putting in the hard yards for us, and people like that Hoops222 person are bloody imbacils to even suggest that. Oh, and by the way, Setanta has NO club spirit what so ever:D
