Why do we bother?

If the AFL website was any good I'd be able to tell you where Mansfield is on this season's clanger list. In terms of clanger per possession ratio, he must be leading.

While I think he does work hard and appreciate his second efforts and stuff like his timing that basically stopped a Crawford goal on Friday night, his decision making means he can't be trusted with the ball.

Franchina is an effective stopper. That is all. Can't mark, can't kick for goal, dodgy field kick, basically not really a footballer at all.

While I think you can go too far in playing youngsters, which can become unfair to them if you are a team of 17 year olds playing a proper AFL team, Carlton is not at that point yet, and I think rather give Campbell, Smith etc a run than have these guys clogging up the team.

Keep Franchina. P*ss off Mansfield though, he is old and can't kick over a jam jar.

Mick has run his race. He does still have something to offer in a positive manner but the gap between his best and worst is growing each game and unfortunately resides closer to the worst end of the scale for much of that time. If he plays I will continue to hope he does well though.

When Mansfield came to the club he was expected to be a good player. He took the best part of two years to get to the minimum level of output considered acceptable. This year he has slipped back to that totally deplorable state and certainly has put the final nails in his coffin.

Not only will he get the boot at the end of the year, but the match committee should just drop him to the seconds and let any one of the young guys on the list take his place. he is now a gross liability.
