What's the deal with him?

Some rate him really highly whilst others dont even have him in their Top 15-20. From what I've seen of the Carnival, he had a good build, was reasonably tall and seemed a fantastic user of the ball.

Was the only issue that he was more of an outside player? Or is there more to it (leadership/work ethic issues)?

Any chance of him slipping to Hawthorns' first pick? 10-14?

I actually have Myers ranked right about there, others might have him a bit higher, but I would be surprised if many recruiters had him outside the top 15.

Its funny- Myers is someone who hawthorn typically draft. 6'2-6'3 flanker (more back than forward) who is VERY LEFT SIDED, yet has terrific delivery and exceptional break the lines pace. Very outside and gets alot of footy on the outside (through receives, uncontested marks, loose ball gets). But his hurt factor is high when he has the footy.

Hasn't really played on anyone who could beat/ expose some of his weaknesses at junior level. Because he was such an improtant link man for W.A out of the back line (he set up their drive) they would sacrifice a player to release him; therefore prevent him from being exposed.

At AFL level i can picture a club dragging him from half back to BP/FB and exposing him there.

Pick 10-25 is suitbale for him. Good player for a club needing athletic footballing outsiders who use the ball well.

He's had some tough assignments playing league for Perth this year though, and has answered every challenge.

One of my favourites. I'd love him to slide to wc. People will look back in 4 years time and say, how did he slide?

By the sounds of him he would fit nicely in at collingwood but he also sounds a bit ryan lonieish.

What current day player is he most like?

the ish part in ryan loneish is whats relevant. Without being entirely lonie, he does have alot of attributes where you think, gee reincarnation.

I dont think myers is as... subtle as lonie, and i believehe will do mroe than lonie does in a league game. Think lonie at his consistantly good best, i.e; Last year and you have your comparison.

So perhaps more of a Birchall?

What's his temperament like (for those WA draft-watchers)?

More explosive than birchall without the cool calm temperament of 'i'll go at my own pace wihilst you clowns run aroudn like headless chooks'. Also not as contested as birchall.

While he gets heaps of loose ball has a pretty good contested mark.

Doesn't shirk the contest (I hope) and is willing to put his head over the ball?

He's a type Hawthorn would like to draft but a type they really dont need. He'll go in the first round.

You kidding? We're crying out for another outside, classy player.

Ellis, Birchall and Myers would compliment our list nicely.

I really hope that Myers has a right foot, though ...

Up to you but I dont think I'd want all 3 of those guys in your back 6 (you've got Clint Young aswell). Unaccountable run off types. I would have thought the Hawks would want a key defender or another midfielder.

True, but ideally, I don't think either a quality defender or midfielder would be available at our first pick?

In an ideal world, i'd like to see us draft any one of the following (but in this order).

1. Rance
2. Pears
3. Ebert
4. Palmer
5. Myers
6. Rioli

Virtually no chance of the Top 4 being around at our pick, wouldn't you think, TOA?

Rance and Pears could slide. Key defenders often do, not many got in the top 10.

For the record PH, he has a tremendous attitude and work ethic.

Interesting.

Where do you think he'll end up, sinepari?

Where is he on your list?

I'm not going to say Philhawk as I'll get yelled down :)

I think Pears is more likely to slide than Rance. If Rance fell to Hawthorn's first pick I will run laps around Telstra dome naked.

Captain of Perth colts and excellent leadership skills and attributes.

Have watched him play well for Perth seniors since the carnival and they suck. Gets no help from senior players but has adjusted to the pace and physicality of league footy seamlessly. That is a key test for many players after the carnival as their ability to adjust against seniors is watched closely - a test that TAC players usually do not have to do.

I rate this kid very highly and think that only Palmer, Maston and Morton may go before him from WA.

Very interesting, BFTW - thanks for that.

Is he very one sided like other left footers, or is he a reasonable kick off both feet?

His right side is for more than balance and his disposal skills are very high but a lefty he is.

His secret is that he reads and understands the game and therefore gets the ball in the right spot so that he has time.

One of those lucky b......s that seems to have time and space on a footy field.

If Rance fell to the Hawks pick, the AFL World will b e officially f..ked in Hawthorn domination in 3 years time.
I see Rance going around Pick 5ish (due to the incredible knack of outstanding Key defenders and incredible need for them).
Pears will slide but he'll definitly go inside the first 15.

I'm going to remember that. I get the feeling some people may get a shock come draft day.

McKenszie, Austin Lucy, Will Gayfer just to name afew. All were thought of as 1st round locks on here.

IMO Rance is a class above those guys, and it is a thinnish draft for quality KPP's, can't see him dropping out of the top dozen. I have been wrong before though.

I'm hoping Hawthorn upgrade their first pick via a trade :p

In my opinion, the only way he will go as high as predicted on here is if he has an outstanding DC, ie If he can run the 20m similar to Brown or Reid last year. And he wont get anywhere near that going off what I've heard.

Myers looks almost ready made for AFL. Playing seniors in a pretty poor side and racking up possies. Perfect for Hawthorn if he was a right footer.
Saw Rance the other week in the colts. Don't know if he was nursing an injury but got towelled up by a smaller opponent. Looked like he was going through the motions knowing he was going to be drafted. Looked better in the seniors.

Myers top 10 , Rance hopefully to Hawks.

Another Grant Birchallesque player.
