Two of my mates bags were stolen while we were on a field trip today. They've lost their wallets, phones, keys and some important documents and assignments etc.

We went in the lecturer's car and while we were out taking measurements etc. Came back to the car and found one of the back door windows smashed with their bags gone.

Pretty freaky stuff.

It sounds like your mates were victims of common theft.

What is freaky about it?

if you work in some type of field work for uni's etc - quite often it's known there will be a visit - car break ins for unis & govt vehicles very common

unfortunatley for your friends the uni's insurance is unlikely to cover their personal stuff unless they can prove they were asked to take it with them

The problem is that even if they Cops manage to catch the scum who did this, they will end up getting a slap on the rists from the court anyway.

There is a huge law and order problem in this city.

I was the only person who took my bag along with me out on the field. The rest left theirs in the car.

True. However this was the first time most people in our group have encountered this situation and the first time that they have been victims of anything like this.

What happened to your friends is totally unacceptable. The State Government needs to start and get serious about crime in our State. Things are out of control.

Jim McGinty seems to care more about the rights of criminals, than he does about the right of law abiding citizens to live free from crime.

Good call in the end! Worst thing about getting everything stolen is they have your address and keys...that is never a good thing. Will have to get the locks changed.
