Well there is Essendon 2008 as the majority of our supporters, who voted, thought it should be.

It's ironic because the "best 22" isn't our even best 22 IMO.

It is our best 22.

the only change I would make would be to put Welsh on the ground for either Gumbleton or Jetta.

McPhee at half back? He hasn't played well down there since 04. He should have been put forward if he was in the team where he has played his best football and im suprised he was voted as a backman considering 68% voted he'd be better suited up forward in an earlier poll (2weeks ago).

Gumbleton has showed good signs, but not enough for him to get a gig in the starting 18 let alone 22, just because he was picked at 2 doesn't mean he can step straight into the in the 22 in his second year. Welsh should have got the gig in his place, did a superb job forward last year; attacking AND defensively.
Bradley was also an option as he is clearly ahead of Gumby ATM and should also be ahead of him in the pecking order because of the form he has shown.

Slatts then should of been placed in the backline for McPhee.

Then with our midfield it looks a bit one paced, the only quick player in there is Winderlich, it's not that the rest are slow (except for Watson), it's just they not dashing mids like Winderlich, Dempsey or Lovett are.
IMO, one of Monfries or McVeigh needs to be substituted for one of Dempsey or Lovett because they are the 2 that are most similar (Put their head over the ball, good footskills and not really a dashing quick mid) so i think they should just rotate with each other.

Um where do you think McPhee has been playing?

My bad, i was trying to type too fast. It was supposed to say "He hasn't played well down there since 04"

For everyone having a sook about the positions players are in and what not, just stop. It was by Consensus. Its what us as a group thought was best, not just one individual.

PS. For what its worth, I dont agree with some of the decisions either, but I acknowledge I was outvoted. I got over it, its not that difficult.

Personally I can't see why Welsh isn't on the ground, or why Rama isn't better than Gumby or Jetta atm, but there you go.

It's more giving ones opinion, not really sooking.
But most Essendon supporters who know what theyr'e talking about would agree that that is not our best 22.

Well obviously more essendon supporters agree that it is accurate, simply because the majority of them chose that or close to that as their top 22.

A fairly accurate consensus. I guess none of us predicted Knights to be coach.

Leave Welsh out and close the door in a chapter of Essendon pretending and mediocrity. Time for new young blood at Bomberland.

Yeh, 24 is pretty damn old, isn't it . He's a great player and had a fine season in 07, a great leader, yes, this is the sort of player we definately do not want in our team

Ha ha. I just stopped laughing to reply to this. Welsh is a great player.... Great leader who looks that suprised whenever he takes a mark that he needs to check his pants. Drops the ball consistantly when there's players around him, turns the ball over consistently...
