View Full Version : General Meeting - 2 October - appointment of proxy
danielcan

Have received my form and the letters from Michelle Wing, Ray Horsburgh, and Peter Jackson.
As I cannot attend the meeting, all I have to do are
1) appoint my proxy - either the Chairman of the meeting, or another person (who is attending)
2) direct my proxy how to vote on the two resolutions.
So basically we are voting on the two resolutions.
Couldn't this have waited until the AGM when the directors are elected?
My question is, how binding are the resolutions?

Of course it could of and should of waited until the AGM
The 2 resolutions are the only 2 things that will or can be voted on or tabled.

So if both resolutions pass, will it bring back Sheedy?
Or is this just punishment for Jackson and Horsburgh?
Please excuse these questions. I really don't understand the intention of the resolutions. Too much water has passed under the bridge.
No it want bring Sheedy back. They want them removed for the "handling of the situation".

Thanks for that. It is a serious vote and I just want to make sure I understand before posting in my proxy as the result has serious consequences for the two men.

Thought the explanations from Ray and Peter were very good. I'd expect they'll get 90% + of the vote.

Isn't it funny that one of the big beefs from SE is that Horsburgh lied and then admitted he did.
Yet the guy they are crying about and that they would like to see back was probably the biggest liar in football and couldn't lie straight in bed if his life depended on it

#1 Against, #2 In favour will be my vote, but in any case..
Dont be lazy - VOTE. Regardless of if your for and ESPECIALLY if you are against these motions, take the time to vote it. Chances are that more of the against voters will be apathetic. Dont let a "majority" vote to oust these directors then complain after the fact that its because the real majority was too lazy to vote.
Merv, your arrogant, grand standing, devoid-of-all-fact posts really are a gift that just keeps on giving.

Who gives a **** if he lied to the media? Coaches lie every press conference.
Does anyone really care?
What did you want him to do...walk out there and say "Yep we have sacked Sheedy"?
All he said wass "It wasn't discussed". The same line that a dozen Presidents would have used before.
Who really cares?

Btw, my beef against Horstburgh is that he is just a terribad president all round. You want to hang the coach for 2005-2007? Fine. What years has Ray been president for again?
Yep. 2006-2007. Board Since 04. Its all been downhill since eh.

Oh. That would make old Ray chairman since 2006.
Oh. that would make you wrong. BTW I was wrong about how long he was on the board - 2003.
Quickly, better throw another personal attack around to shore up your already-useless argument. "Ray has done alot!" based on what do you support that? The financial work put in by the CEO, who was there before and will probably be there after Ray? Or perhaps the excellent on field performance of the club under his leadership? (/sarcasm).

I invite you to give any proof you think you have that KS is the biggest liar in football and that he cannot lie straight in bed if he tries to. What a stupid thing to offer to prove, honestly.
It does put your rabid support of his sacking in a better light though. Rather than give a crap about the club, the future, how good a coach he is or isnt, you just hate him on principal? Fair enough, fits your "no logic, no facts, just bluster and bullcrap" posting style down to a T.

i can change what i wrote in the first place as well. would you have any idea how many new sponsors ray has bought into the club? or do you think its peter only who does all the financial work.
but what have you against ray? becuase he lied at a press conference? what was he suppose to say, it was handled poorly i agree but we would have been dammed no matter what we did, and what has ray and peter got to do with on field matters?? does ray teach the players how to kick or handball? look at the strength of the club off field before you judge the man.

You have just done the thing that you accused me of.
Not only are you grandstanding you are also wrong, multiple occasions
I have for many years been a supporter of Sheeds, although i did change that this year.
Sheedy was not sacked.
You say i hate Sheedy, yet i have stuck up for him on many occasions, used to bet in the TAB with him and discussed Essendon with him on many occasions.
I am in fact though a realist and for all the praise and admiration i have for Sheeds i can also see his many faults.
Objectivity, heard of it?
Before you start sprouting off about me and what i think and act you should take a deep breath fist because you have absolutely no idea.
How would you know my posting style as you have only been here since the day it was announced Sheeds was not continuing with Essendon after his current contract.
So let me get this straight, some people would have rather Sheedy and his family find out through a frenzied media late on a Monday night?

Sheedy was not sacked.
We argued this before. Your insistence that he was "not renewed" and this is somehow different to "being sacked" is amusing.

You just called him the biggest liar in football. Interesting for a man you have praise and admiration before.

Ive never seen you use it once in months of posts.

What is the typical Merv Neagle post?
A spout off about someone trashing whatever they have to say, often with a picture of a trashcan thrown in to boot, without addressing any point they might have made.
How would you know my posting style as you have only been here since the day it was announced Sheeds was not continuing with Essendon after his current contract.
And in just a couple of months ive seen you attack these KS / SE / anti-Essendon's Board threads as though afraid they might infect the board otherwise and ultimately cause the sky to fall on your head. Your arguments against anyone critical of the board generally amount to you calling them an idiot, a rant about supporting the club, ending in a "thanks for your opinion, it has been forwarded to the relevant department" with a pic of a trash can.
Sure, I have a narrow interest. I could care less about discussing how good or bad a season Pev had; if your active in those threads and post sensibly, I dont get to see it. You have my apologies.
[QUOTE]We argued this before. Your insistence that he was "not renewed" and this is somehow different to "being sacked" is amusing.
Being sacked is if he does not get to see out his contract.
We chose not to renew his contract and he also had the right to leave if he wanted. That is what a contract is
You just called him the biggest liar in football. Interesting for a man you have praise and admiration before.
As i said, i am objective and can see his good and bad, you should try it sometime

If you didnt change what you wrote, I guess Merv did, because the swearing was removed in any case ;)
What I have against Ray is that in my eyes he is a terrible president. The club was in super financial shape before him, or at least according to my amature reading of the material we all get as members at the end of each year. In fact, all that has visibly happened under Ray Horstburgh is 2nd last, 5th last, sacked coach. If someone has something else to point out, give me a fact, a reason not to vote for him being dumped.
Tell me about a sponsor he bought on board, tell me about something useful he did for the club, instead of basing your entire argument on insisting my genetals are attached to my forehead and that I just dont have any idea.
Fill me in.

You really need to take a chill pill Merv, becoming a Mod may have gone to your head or were you always like this? Hanging S**T on Sheedy will not win you any votes except from the rest of the blind sheep that will follow.
Ray Horsburgh and the board were being reactive not proactive, (I for one would like to know who the board member was that started this hole process) they panicked when Pagan was sacked, if they were being proactive not reactive the announcement of the non renewal of Sheedy's contract should have come at a better time.
For the record I have no problem in the fact that Sheedy will not be at Essendon next year I have a problem with the reactive board, Oh s**t we better let all those would be coaches out there know that Essendon are looking for a new coach next year FFS, this makes us look like the Carlton's & Richmond's of the world.
Now everyone can have a crack at me :):):):):) yes I am a member of the EFC.

I'm sorry I asked.
I'm glad I can't get to the General Meeting if this is the tone that is going to be taken.
The group who put up the resolutions will of course speak on it, and then there will be others speaking against the resolutions.
It could get ugly and go on all night.
It is an important vote. I just wanted to find out a bit more. I don't want to get caught up in vendettas and pettiness.

Actually the thing that stinks the most isnt that Ray lied about Sheedy's future being discussed,
it isnt that it was a complete knee-jerk reaction to Carlton sacking Pagan,
its that the board ran scared at the prospect of shopping for a coach vs Carlton, Melbourne and Fremantle - and reportedly now has as its two "preferred" candidates two coaches who are in safe jobs with other clubs anyway...
So for all the screwups, we are exactly where we would be if they had not-renewed Sheedy right this minute. Except instead of just being apparantly out to buy Thompson back, we appear to be out to buy Thompson and looking like Sheedy's clown act on The Footy Show in the process.
We argued this before. Your insistence that he was "not renewed" and this is somehow different to "being sacked" is amusing.

You talk so much drivel, it's actualy slightly impressive. I'm just waiting for when you come out and admit your an exagerrated parody of a Save Essendon supporter, and have been playing us all along. It'l' bring the house down:p.
By the way ever heard "we're going to roll the dice at the selection table" then only out is along the lines of JJ out Campo in. That is one example of Sheedy lieing. It's just unlike the pathetic Save Essendon group, the real essendon supporters, and people in general, don't care at all.
its that the board ran scared at the prospect of shopping for a coach vs Carlton, Melbourne and Fremantle - and reportedly now has as its two "preferred" candidates two coaches who are in safe jobs with other clubs anyway...
I would have been horrified if we didn't make it public at that time. At least it gave us a chance to speak to all the available coaches at the time. People say the timing wasn't great? The decision was made by the board...why hold off to the end of the season and risk another club taking a potential coach that we want?

You mean to imply that the board sacked the coach without giving ANY prior consideration to who they might replace him with?
Wait... I think you just finished my point for me Jaymin ;) Unless they thought maybe Carlton would try and buy Thompson or Williams first. I dunno. It still doesnt make sense.
SOT4, ive never tried to come across specifically as a SE supporter. IMO the EGM is a waste - I agreed with the calling 3 weeks ago but now believe I was wrong to (lets see many other ppl admit that on an internet forum, EGADS). You however are coming across as a typical cad, convinced you are representative of "the real essendon supporters" or something. What, exactly, makes you think your $400 is worth more than the $400 of one of the guys that signed that petetion, no matter how right or wrong they might have been to do it? "Real supporters". What a joke.

I'm sure they had had prior consideration to who they might replace him with...hence they didn't want Freo, Melbourne or Carlton to snap them up before they got a chance to interview them?

Point being their preferred candidates (assuming they had gone through this process in July, not August) should already have been Thompson / Williams.
In fact, the only coach both clubs (Ess+Car) were publically linked to was Voss... surely not. Just no. If they had, id have voted against them at the AGM just for that anyway.
How out giving Sheedy the chance to go for other jobs?

To be fair, there's only so many valid points you can put into a letter, and there's plenty of reasons for Sheeds to have gone. This is in contrast to Save Essendon whose letter would consist of " buutttt theeeyy liieeeddddd *sob*"

Doesn't it just cause more issues at the club, instead of filling one high profile position it will be three.
