Hey everyone,

I am looking at gettin a Bombers Membership for the 1st time next year... I've always gone to a few games a year when i can, but its difficult because i live in Melton and didn't have a licence...

Now i can get a lot more games and i want to get a membership... Can those who have experience tell me how each type works and what is best?

E.g. pros and cons of bronze/silver/high and reserved/walk up (is there every a problem getting seats?)

I am a uni student so money IS a factor (although i can get conc.)

It doesnt worry me too much where i sit... only me and a mate will be gettin memberships... but there will be a few casuals that come with us every 2nd/3rd week.

Pay the extra for a reserved seat. While it seems to be a silly extra cost, take it from someone who did it poor / cheap (no reserve) as a first year member then paid up the next year... the difference is worth it.

No lining up for tickets, no getting "standing room" tickets if your a little late to the game and having to sit next to the scoreboard, no sitting next to randoms who will get up every 2 minutes to try and find a better seat (I HATE away games against scrub teams that dont get fully ticketed games. Idiots up and down and up and down and up and down and SDAFLKJFSD), no sitting next to randoms in general. Reserved seat = reserved ppl you sit near = ppl who even if you never properly learn their name you will talk to every game etc. Its great.

BUT. If your going to often be there with non-members, you cannot get a reserved seat, unless your happy to sit seperate or hope that ppl next to your seats dont show up. Many times going with friends / family / gf has cost me the price of a ticket when i already own a ruddy membership :(

Don't waste your time with reserved seats...unless you're in a big group who go all the time, you might get stuck with morons.

My family used to get reserved seats at Windy Hill. When we sat in section 9, it was great..Great people around us. A couple of years later, we got moved to Section 10 and we ended up sitting with this annoying woman who bagged all the players.

That was it. The fear of getting stuck next to someone I disliked for the entire season stopped me from getting a reserved seat.

You can get tickets to all the games at the start of the season. You just need to log onto Ticketb@stard and reserve your seats there and you can print out the tickets and you don't have to get of your ass until game day. The only issue is if you're going woth other members. The person who buys the tickets has to know the barcode numbers of all the members who are going and enter them at the same time.

If you must purchase them on the day, go early and then head somewhere for lunch/dinner then turn up 15 mins before the game.

Always try and come to the Dome from the La Trobe st side as the bridge at the train station side gets packed and gates 1 and 2 have ridiculous queues...

Personally, I preferred standing. When I went with the boys, we stood. When the women came, we sat.

Sounds like you're in a similar position to me...

I have a bronze concession 18 (or 17). Bronze gives me everything that I need, although it's harder to get GF tickets. (Wouldn't know, haven't tried it on this membership.) Higher memberships = higher priority access.

I don't have a reserved seat, I don't think it's worth it for the cost (as a uni student). I generally just walk up on game day and usually have no problems getting a seat, you can usually still get standing room at the Dome if there's a problem. There's good general admission seating on both the ground level and level 3 at the G, and you don't generally have to go too early to get a decent seat. For games like Anzac Day you obviously still have to book. Pre-booking at Ticketmaster before a game will cost you about $20 with a concession membership.

Showing up on match day at the Dome is a bit annoying, get there early (at least half an hour before the teams run out, for example). They'll allocate you a seat, but generally you could still sit where you wanted up the top, within reason.

The 17/18 game gives you access to all Essendon games in Melbourne (whereas the 11 game gives you access to the home games only).

Just go get an afl membership. As a concession its not to pricey i dont think. This gets you to all home and away matches dont have to pay general admission prices to go to an away game. It's walk up when we play at the G except collingwood games. It gets you good seats at telstra dome if ya quick enough you said ya dont care where ya sit then if ya not quick enough u sit level three or stand like i do when i miss out on level 1.

It's the best membership used to be way better in the 90's used to be able to walk up to every game including the granny if you were a full member. But it's still the best craps on mcc and a normal club membership, if you get an afl membership make it essendon club support so the money still goes to essendon or some anyway.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the info...

I didn't really understand how it works but now i've got the hang of it...

I have a South Dragons membership, and you just pay ur $149 and have a reserved seat at all the games...

But this is confusing with gold, silver, bronze, GA reserved, away games @ TD and MCG ect... But i'm good now...

Haahah can u do that? Do u have to pay more? I think i'll book them all at the start of the year and get all them posted to me LOL

Yes, you'll probably have to pay about $20 per game (as opposed to showing up on match day where you can go in for nothing if you sit in general admission/top level of TD). Not worth it.

Me and my other half have reserved seats on level 1 for the 11 home games.
Bronze membership. Love it.

Yeah you can get stuck next to a few tossers,
it would happen with or without reserved seats if you ask me.

But you will find that you get to know the people around you and you are usually saying "I'll see ya next game".

I just love the fact that it's you're seat, and there is no lining up for tickets or on the phone/net booking them.

Essendon fc do have an option of paying monthly. "Advantage membership".

Look forward to 08!
