i have spoken to about 5 of the boys from cobraland early last week and to be perfectly honest not sure if their from the 16s or the 18s (played 16s last year) their year 10 tho and they said nothing about leaving but were unsure if they were going to have enough to fill a side.

weapons as a former coach u should know there is always uncertainty amongst players until the coach actually calls them and introduces themselves and organises first training run ect.

often word spreads around that the new coach is a good bloke and the teams prospects are on the up and everybody comes out of the wood work keen as to play

They will have plenty of numbers for under 18s. Have been told DC has about 26 blokes to call from.

As for you Weapons, are you and Ausssie Pride lovers, because you both speak as much crap as each other. You just make up stuff and i need a translator to understand Aussie Pride. Good match i reckon. :)

Sunshine Heights were spotted training at Cherry Lake in Altona tonight.

Not sure on numbers but there appeared to be a plethora of guys of about 175cm tall with olive complexions. Also a guy with really white legs, who looked like Jesus Christ was spotted warming up.

He's a bit early. His re-incarnation is due in about 46 days....

A bit early yet to discuss individuals - until clearances are through they still will remain in-house.However,would think we are better placed this year than in previous years and we have a better balance of size throughout.

I know they picked up a young kid from Lalor, last name is comfort. He is a small roving forward. Apparently left to go play with his brother wayne, who is also an ex bloods player. Along with a couple of other boys from lalor who I have heard are going to put in clearances, coburg look like doing o.k.
Whats the bloods connection cole reserve?

You obviously won't have any difficulties with Gladdy Park. Your mail has been correct all along. Need to get voted back in and they are no chance of that. Have paid off their debt, but have no ground to play on and apparently owe the council plenty $$$$.

Have been hearing quite a bit about Deer Park of late. Apparently they have a player budget of 50-60k this season. Plenty of cash coming from the Toyota dealership near by and the Deer Park Club.

President Goldy will also bring in heaps of $$$$ through his networking. Looking at increasing that player budget to $100k within the next 3 years. Want to win the flag this year, but prepared to wait 12 months if necessary. Good on them I say!

1 thing though when all the money dried up last time when he left to go to albion it was left up to a handfull of people to keep the club afloat we all know what hapened next........

i wanna see the jnr players at the club representing the seniors in 3 years time........that builds a strong club and local talent will be given a real opportunity to take the club to the top grade.......not all this talk about 100k a year we are spending on bringing people from out side into the club with money......spend that money on the kids i recon.......

Could it be a ready made replacement has ben found if West are unable to feild a competitive list this season?

surely heights have to go up before d/p nth foots and the like.......

speaking with goldie there is no rush and have to build a strong foundation for the club to survive in the top comp.........we go up get smashed players leave we are in the same boat as west......while it is dissapointing the talk about west not having a competitive side is bad for their club and the comp as a whole..........got to give some credit to glenorden......

if you look at the teams of the past who have won div 2 g/f a's back to back then nth sunshine and glenorden.......a's very strong jnr program that will hold them in good stead.......nth sunshine stayed up for 2 years and that didnt help their cause comming back to div 2 jnrs they struggle with......glenorden have a big area and they do have jnrs but they arnt like the hoppers/wezza's from that area.....id say great people at the club with a lot of passion for the club hence them doing a fair job in divy 1 last year........now west......had a great team last year but a lot of older blokes who wouldnt cut it with the pace of div 1 these days talk of them not fielding a competitive side in 08 is dissapointing but it shows where the club is really at in terms of money and jnrs and enticing quality players to fill the void of all the older blokes that have retired or left the club to stay in div 2.........yer they won the div 2 g/f they can be proud of that going underfeated but no foundations means downhill skiing from here on in......

my opinion any thoughts.......

Completely agree with you weapons.. also dont forget to mention Altona.. they had a unbelievably strong side in dv 2 for years running (to the discredit of most of the div 2 clubs at the time) but did retain their list and added to it as well. it seems that you need strong juniors that come up through the ranks and sound committee structure to make it a possablitly to be competitive in div 1..

i agree weapons all the talk of wests last year setting themselves up 2 be competetive in div 1 was all crap. they bought a premiership and are now feeling the effects of low club loyalty. they should be made to stay up or fold not come back to div 2. u really need a good foundation of players who are going to stick with your club thru and thru

I dont think Sunshine Heights would be in a position to want to win a flag. If they do they would most definently be in a far worse position than West Foots. From what we've heard is no players are paid in any grade.

How/Why would anyone play Division 1 football for the love of it unless they flashed some coin?
I guess Sunshine Heights may be the first to try it without it. They are a big chance to do it this year. They were definetly the 2nd best team in the comp last year and would have to start favorites this year

Good luck to the coaching staff if they think they could recruit without cash.

Interesting that you say far worse position.
As typewriter said hieghts have a good foundation of
players that are loyal to the club who would not leave
regardless of the division the team plays.
How do i know this? 75% of the current senior side
Have played with heights for their entire career, including
juniors. You dont have to recruit those players.

I agree to be competitive in division one would require
a couple of recruits, but definately would not be in
a worse position than a west footscray to approach
division 1.

Just my opinion.

Red Devil - save you some time

Glenroy boys are a couple of guys coming out of Under 18's looking for a change,
Atherton lives close by and played at Jacana played Reserves and a handful of senior games- looking to cement a senior spot
Comfort joining his brother here - burning up the track at preseason
Abbas played first half of year last year before returning to Lalor - very fit and will bean asset on ball
Caruso very handy and wants top play with his mates here
O'Shea from Sth Morang another Under 19 player who played a handful of games in Ressies last year looking to cement a senior spot - great kick and shows a lot of potential
The Gladdy boys you should know and their clearances will be finalised after Tuesday night's COM.

firstly superman y would any club go out there not to win a premiership that is absolutly ridiculous, yeah we might get smashed but wed give it a go.

secondly your contradicting urself questioning y people would play for the love of it unless your getting paid.

Sorry just landed back from the Fortress speaking with Jor-El.
I know every team is out there to win but seriuosly you dont want to win a flag and then as you say just give it a go, North Sunshine gave it a go and get belted for 2 years. They were cash strapped before going up and ended up nearly folding by the time they were back.
In their first season back in Division 2 they had lost heaps of players and financially ruined as they had to pay..

Do you honestly believe that 75% of your Senior squad would remain to play Division 1???? Just look at West Footscray.... I dont think so.

Seeing as they have been at the club for the entirety of their careers (including juniors) and as i am one of those players, then yes, i can confidently say they would remain. West Footscray is not Sunshine Heights. Plus these players are all in the age group of 20-24, not like west footscray 28-34. All i am saying is we would be in a better position than west footscray. My Opinion, biased as it may be.

most if not all of the divy 2 clubs in divy 2 now have weak junior teams and a few have no u18s, before you say otherwise altona and the top edfl 18s teams would smash any of them. so most teams have to recruit, and the majority of good players willing to play divy 2 are the older divy 1 players, so its goin 2 be tough for any of the divy 2 teams to come up and be competetive unless you win tattslotto or get pokies, and dont mention altona becuse im talking about the teams in divy 2 now, they are competive becuse therve had strong junior teams for years.if parkside had last years team this year in divy 2 no one would come close to them, but they have lost a few of there better players and will still be right up there. and as for nth footscray claiming they have good juniors your 18s came last in what is probably the weakest u18s comp in melbourne

Not sure where you go this from. We struggle for depth in our juniors.

It was a good effort but unfortunately if you are not an Altona or Spotswood, you tend to lack depth in junior numbers. Injuries hit and confidence dropped after a few losses and it was difficult to regain momentum. The boys started quite well and only finished last after being knocked off by Port Colts in the last game. The coach CJ has done a fantastic job over the past few years.

Good to see Gladstone Park and Brunswick Power gone. TBH they really just caused nothing but problems from Day One, never really amounted to anything in the football scene and it makes for a better competition not having so many thrashings.

Hello Tats. Glad to hear you are enjoying you new club. How is my old mate Faisel faring down at Parkside?

Solid, but not outstanding numbers at North Footscray training. Reckon we are averaging about 30 a night. Still waiting on a few blokes to turn up! Have picked up about 5-6 new blokes so far (with a few more to come). We also have a few under 18's from last year who are pushing for senior selection. Minty (ex-Coburg Districts and Roxburgh Park gun) is our new assistant coach and he is already making his presence felt.

I also think Dale Williams is primed for a return to the glory years. Yes and before you all howl me down (ie Karim, Height boys etc) that is my opinion!
