Thank u to the guys who decided to make personal attacks at each other and close the thread that I started at the beginning of last year for talk on div 2 WRFL.
Well I will start up another thread for Div. 2 WRFL for 2008 and beyond, but please no personal attacks at each other.
So if anyone has anything productive to add please post, but the saying is "If you have nothing nice to say, dont say it at all".

Thats a pretty fair asssesment of the wrfl div 2. And kid thats the way we like it, back in the day it was alot dirtier, cheap shots used to be apart of footy, nowadays you get sent off if you give the crowd the bird.
the way local footy is heading towards in the wrfl div 2 it'll be so watered down so that by the time you play seniors you can rest assure a spoil will simply be a fist to the footy.:thumbsu:

Good Stuff Colddog - as someone with no ties to a div 2 club these days, i'll start off - 1. How will Parkside fare back in div 2 and 2.Any big name recruits from other clubs - rumours of Doutta's boys from Deer Park - if they are big names (i.e a Tankard, a Docherty, a Ramsey or a Phillpot)
then you would have to think they would carve up div 2 coming from EDFL A grade standard.
Will we see Brunswick continue to rise after a much improved 2007? Will the any of Western's U/18's come through to play senior footy? Will all sides be returning or new sides coming in??

Bit harsh comment mate about giving crowd the bird.... If you read Rule 19.2.2(f) it will give you all the info you need on why the report was laid."Use of an obscene gesture.
Last time I checked, giving the crowd the bird is an obscene gesture.

Can tell me where in the rule book it says, "a player having a set shot from the boundary line on has 5 sec to kick" instead of 60 sec.

Are you obliged seeing an obscene gesture to send someone off, if not could a warning have been better knowing the consequesces.
The dictionary says obscene is 'dealing with sexual matters in an offensive or disgusting way'. What is sexual about giving the bird. Maybe grabbing the groin or something. Is 2 fingers obscene? Have you sent off everyone you have ever seen give the bird? If you have to send someone off for giving the bird which is in no way offensive these days could you have been a bit mature about it and perhaps not seen it or is every rule ever written there to be adhered to and enforced.

If I am not mistaken, you're an under 18? So the game after yours are the reserves? Totally different game to the seniors and probably not the best to judge on.
However, your point does have merit, occasionally there is a bit too much of players going the man instead of the ball or unnecessary carrying on, but I am pretty sure it has been getting better over the last few years.
As for not playing at all, it's football. People play it for different reasons, not everyone is good enough to play division 1, or wants to leave their local club.

You have to admit it was a stupid thing to do, especially in a grand final.

Grand Finals are high pressure situations - people respond differently to it. I know as a u/14 basketballer i flipped the bird off in a G/F to the crowd - something i would never do in a normal match, and just a month ago I saw a women's Big V Basketball game where one of the girls did it. G/F's also have bigger and more vocal crowds so some players wouldn't be used to that sort of situation either. I'm not saying it's right to do, but the umpire should have had a quiet word in the ear first as opposed to a send off.

Yeah, I don't see the harm in a warning, but perhaps the fact it was Division 2's big day of exposure and having that happen had something to do with it. My personal opinion is that it's not very harmful, but at the same time, not the best thing to do.
As for the "stupid thing to do" comment, I don't mean the player himself is stupid, but the act is. I can relate with you in regards to frustrations as everyone can respond differently to pressure or heckling etc. But yeah, wasn't the smartest thing to do.

it doesnt have to be completely clean a spoil should be a fist to the hand/ footy w/e its just bad when ur watching someone get tackled and then a jab in the guts or see there face being put in the dirt then he gets up and the all in is on in the first 10min like dont get me wrong its excellent to watch from the sidelines but that isnt something id wanna play in every week

thats a fair call as i have only seen a bit of 1 seniors game where i only saw the halftime fight because our training was on the other oval
but i can see where ur coming from as rezzies would be alot more dirtier then seniors and thats what im judging from

Um lets go thru the sides then
DeerPark - Robertson would have to poll well in the games they won
Wests - you would have to say chickey & maybe ziggy if his season was consistent enough, but we all know he should be up there
S.Heights - Greto & M Nicolaides for there great years
Albanvale - we said hendo but he's had an injury interuppted season, so i would probably nominate Adam Borg who has been a consistent rock for them.
North - the kid that wore 20 thru the season then 4 in the finals, he should poll very well

power house i wouldnt call it but we were competitive to say the least.....
lets not forget we have been in 2 out of the last 5 grand finals in div 2......so things are ok........i think anyway....
now as for why......1 reason i can think of is the jnrs........from 99 to 06 we have had 1 u/18 team which was a mixture of deer park and albion players and that was in 03 so for all these years we havnt been getting the kids coming through to play in the seniors let alone the ressies....we had 18's this year which is great some good players that played both snrs and ressies after the 18's which is a big ask of them...... they did it the club will benefit as will the players.......next year we will have 18's and the year after and the year after that so we will get these kids coming through playing some sort of role in the club.........to me that is the key for having success.........
you think about it and the team we had in the 90's will be back playing their role at the club to get it back where we should be...........as we all know its not an easy process but the kids need to be the main focus of re-building the club..........just look how heights have done this year jnr players playing snrs......im sure nth foots would be in the same boat......you could throw albanvale in there as well......
i was in the jnrs in the mid to late 90's maybe we played in the same team.........

Devils B&F presentation tonight.
1. Eldridge
2. Devlin
3. Scratcher Allen
Fair enough result, but would have swapped 2nd with 3rd. Devils have lost no players for next year (thus far). Have picked up a full back and centre half back. Had a few beers myself, but confident of a good year in 08'.

We have alot of former junior players returning to the club such as Jamie Zerafa and Drew Mitchell who are good Division 1 players with Yarraville and Glenorden. We also have about 10 blokes coming across from Werribee Centrals and Westbourne, all that with the good Under 18 players going up. The club is cashed up they have been saving and next year will be paying players.

Heard the whisper at Saturday's game ( and u don't need be a brain surgeon to figure it out ) that Mallia does win it straight from a inside source...the questions are ...by how much and will he make the dash from Height's presentation night at Grand Star Receptions to Sheldon Reception to collect the medal and his accolades ?

Interesting, hope so. Watching him every week we are conservative when we say he should get 10 best on grounds making him 30. Thats games when he has had close to 50 possessions and taken 25 marks and kicked a few. He played in 15 games with 13 of them huge. It is hard to know how much other top players will be a chance to get as we don't see them week in week out.
He is a chance to make a quick return trip if thats the case on Friday night.

just sick of the bagging and shit talk that gets on here, any way na dont think they will! if deer park get these pick ups they will be super strong but i think parkside will come down and be a dominating team!!
I heard that Drew Mitchell has already signed on for another year at Glenorden (which will improve from their season this year) why would he go back to Lavo? The point is to try improve your footy, not take backwards steps, no offence but Lavo would be one of those steps. And as for Zefafa if your getting your info from the same source as drew mitchell then maybe check again. Care to elaborate where this source came from?

Ok fair enough. I'm gonna make the assumption it's just talk then, because i got some good authority Mitchell is staying at Glenorder, and who knows about Zerafa, you could be right.

Come on mate, what you think We$t don't already know they need to keep players and recruit too! We already have numbers for the present list and the fall out is minimum, and the players that were expected. Recruit wise, already have several verbal agreements and several player in the loop. We'll be ready to go and have a crack, and thats all any team can do :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Come on Bomber/TD, don't do what you did last year. Firstly, let's just wait and see what North Footscray do and wait for what Parkside bring to the table. Let's hope that Heights lose that front runners tag!

Does anyone know of some past players who may come back to north most notable trevaskis who is at sunshine and davidson who is at yarra. They were there a few years ago and talk earlier in the year was they may come back to div 2. Imagine those 2 runnig around across the middle and the half back ine. Both are good footballers in div 1 and bring them down, nth would be certainty for a gf appearance...

Davidson is a great footballer and would be well suited back at North. He is all class and reads the play very well. I think he is capable of playing good div 1 footy, but if he chose to play div 2 for what ever reason, he would be welcomed at the devils with open arms.
As for Travvy, he has many more years of Div 1 footy to play. He was stand in Capt at Sunny this year when a few players went down due to injury and from all reports is enjoying his footy there. As for coming to Nth, I guess you can never say never!!

BomberT is not TD it's an obsessed fan better known as somebodystopme/wally54/, M Abou zeid (a reserves player at Parkside this year the year they came bottom). So obseessed he saves posts about TD to post them over and over. Weirdo.
Anyway I would say Parkside with Sheppa will be strong coming down as they got better towards the end of the year in division 1. He is also good in that he will only play committed decent footballers in the ones. Nth will be right up there, Albanvale are always up there, Deer Park will have a clean out with Madigan coach and will be better, hopefully a couple of other sides pick up so all in all it should be a competetive interesting year.
I wouldn't worry about Heights from last year we went from losing the first final which equates to finishing 7th or 8th to 2nd so for the club it was a reasonably sucessfull season. West were the best side all year and won the flag, Heights were the second best side and came second. On top of that our full forward won the goal kicking and hopefully Friday Mallia wins the best and fairest. Would swap it all for a flag but wasn't to be. Heights will be competetive with recruiting started and a small cleanout of ants that are white.
Bomber will coach Heights in 2008 unless the club decides otherwise or unless Rockbank up their offer LOL.
Easy champ now you have won the flag realistically how many of your senior grand final side are up to A1 footy. Interested to hear your response besides well known players you have a fair few unknown heads to me. Of the ones I know I would say these ones are not MJ, Innella, Lane - all fitness. Evans on the edge there also, J Lane - committment, Geddes, De ambrosio, Oldfield - age. Just a discussion nothing else.

Word around the traps is that JLane wants to return to Braybrook. His missus is in the women's team and he has a lot of friends there.
I heard Bones on the radio say there was already 4 players lined up for next year including his other son (Lachlan?).
West juniors are fairly strong at the moment, but that doesn't always mean a lot in division 1.
Heard the Yarraville Cooks might be going to Rockbank as a package deal, with Brett obviously coaching (that is unless TD gets the job!).
North Footscray may lose one or two players to Rockbank also.

Who would Nth lose and why. Is cougar around again for next year and is Tommo going again or playing super rules for the 6th year in a row lol.
Rockbank are waiting on an answer from TD and if it's no they will then go with the Cooks. You know what it's like you have to go after the best first.
Seriously Lowerson went to Rockbank years ago and took the Innella's and others, they made finals then when the coach finished up so did the players and back to the bottom of the ladder. Wouldn't imagine their location would help much.
Are you playing again Gazza.

Am not Gazza, TD but will pass on your regards to the great man.
The Cougar and Thommo are going around again. Thommo is best mates with the coach so had no choice! Will play one or twos depending on form, age and how some of the other blokes come up. Too many old blokes probably cost the reserves in the finals, but it is important that guys hang around as they age.
Cougar will also play where required and wouldn't be suprised if he assists the coaches at a greater capacity this year.
F...k it's not even October and I am already excited about next year. The club has a few players targeted and a couple of young guys coming up. We had two under 18's play in the seniors preliminary final, so hopefully a few of their mates will press for selection.
Won't specifically comment on the Rockbank situation, but heard a few whispers on the weekend that we may lose a couple.

who is coming down from 1t div and what are they like ?? any noticable retirements this season ?? who are the frontrunners for 08 ??
i would ask if the umpiring was any better but that is a stupid question as every inbred kid that got bashed at school ended up umpiring div 2 in the wrfl..

Now only hear say from what i've heard:
Innella, Lane, Geddes, Manye, De ambrosio, MJ retired or 2nd divvy
Oldfield is getting on but will be back and will be a good experience backman, if he does a preseason
Evans, getting on also but has not completed a preseason since 2004 (last season a seddon), which has obviously been seen by performances. If he finally gets one under his belt, will be valuble
J Lane unsure, heard rumors will head to Braybrook (good coach down there) but has spoken to We$t about having a real good crack at divvy 1
Lachlan McGee, heard has signed on with 4 others
Out of the 21 starting in the divvy 2 GF, slappa, mcgee, evans, oldfield, J lane, ziggy, henry, grixti, simo, webby, innella (if fit) will all be capable of playing divvy 1 (sorry if i missed anyone, there maybe more but these are off the top of my head!)

From what i know, We$t know what they are getting themselves into by going up to divvy 1 and know what is required to be competitive, and from the grape vine they are leaving no stone unturned to try and become the first team ever to go up from divvy 2 and play finals in divvy 1. Can confirm that MJ and louie will play on next year, they ar eboth looking for new clubs.
Heard laverton have approached wests assistant "larry", to do some recruiting for them for next year, word around they have a bit of money to spend
power house i wouldnt call it but we were competitive to say the least.....
lets not forget we have been in 2 out of the last 5 grand finals in div 2......so things are ok........i think anyway....
now as for why......1 reason i can think of is the jnrs........from 99 to 06 we have had 1 u/18 team which was a mixture of deer park and albion players and that was in 03 so for all these years we havnt been getting the kids coming through to play in the seniors let alone the ressies....we had 18's this year which is great some good players that played both snrs and ressies after the 18's which is a big ask of them...... they did it the club will benefit as will the players.......next year we will have 18's and the year after and the year after that so we will get these kids coming through playing some sort of role in the club.........to me that is the key for having success.........
you think about it and the team we had in the 90's will be back playing their role at the club to get it back where we should be...........as we all know its not an easy process but the kids need to be the main focus of re-building the club..........just look how heights have done this year jnr players playing snrs......im sure nth foots would be in the same boat......you could throw albanvale in there as well......
i was in the jnrs in the mid to late 90's maybe we played in the same team.........
just to back you up with the amount of players coming up next year is 8. All are looking forward to playing with the seniors and ressies. Looking forward to hopefully playing a few games in the seniors.

if you havnt been on the wrfl website.............
over pre-season before christmas and after january to febuary my good mate ROHAN SMITH the afl 300 gamer from the western bulldogs is holding coaching clinics from jnrs u/10 to senr players.......a good chrissy preasent for the kids also a good learning curve for them aswell.........it goes over every thing from running drills to diets....its a 10 week course and looks the goods......all clubs will be recieving the flyers........so get in and have a grack at it......or get on the wrfl website and have a sneak peak..........as numbers are getting bigger by the day............my jnrs are already booked in.....
cheers weapons......

true he played in a crappy team.....i watched him against d/p and i tell you what he would have got the votes that day........on many ocasions he kicked in from full back and then got it back by the 1/2 back, wing area and ran the ball through the middle with a bit of dash and got it into their f/ward line..to an umpire this stuff stands out... honestly i seen this 4 or 5 times in the first half.........plays with dash gets a lot of possies a worthy winner in my opinion......no doubt not the best player in the comp theres probably 10 players in the comp better than him......he is the best this year.....simple as that......
