Hey guys,
I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Rick and I started supporting Port in 1981 when I was 8. Since then I have been to every GF and followed PAFC every year devotedly, even though I was disappointed when Russel was sacked, but jack did justify the decision.
My two favourite players are Chappy and Pearcey, great personalities and fantastic players, with influential work ethics.
What i wanted to know was about a topic that has been discussed not that long ago but I can't find it.
Anyway, I wanted to attain the PAFC fantastic past. eg the Port 88,89,90,92,93,94 & 96 SANFL GF's. (I was there at all too :) ).
I called PAFC, they told me to call Port Magpies, I called them they said they don't know anything about it, so I called the ABC shop, they said nup. So I called the SANFL, nothing either but they told me to call Pine Distributors (i think that was the name).
The gent on the phone said no don't have em but get's alot of requests. So all in all noone knows of their existence and can't track them down.
Surely there must be a way of getting access these tapes. I couldn't care if they are even on the old VHS. DVD would be better, but begga's can't be choosers.

Rick, I reckon I have most if not all of those as well as the 77 and 80 but I will check tonight and post years tomorrow. Most of them are tapes that my brother did off the TV for me - he's a Sturt supporter and the deal from the 80s was that he would tape the Port GF's for me and I would tape the Sturt GF's for him. These recordings are not professional and as they are may have the odd commercial in them but they have every kick and more.
I recently got myself a DVD player/recorder and am in the process of copying them to DVD.

Sent him a couple of PM's but no reply, I assume he's been busy to reply, but I heard he's a legend and Mr Port :)

The commercials make these tapes even better!
Could have a nice little cottage industry for yourself there, Mitch...

Would the SANFl have the tapes??? Surely they should to preserve the History...
One thing that shits me about the AFL, even as a Crows fan...Collingwood and Carlton ahve their pre 1990s premierships included in their record, Port dont ahve all theirs 35 I beleive..what are you rpeoples thoughts, or you not fussed as I see your club honours them...and rightly so.

I believe that our premierships before our entry to the AFL should be recognised, some people do some people don't.
But don't start me, the SANFL caused all sorts of identity problems when they forced a Port Magpies team to still exist, really, IMO there should have been a Port Magpies from 1997 onwards, like I said my opinion.
As for the SANFL, I contacted them and they don't have them and neither do the clubs, I just think that's crazy, these SANFL clubs sure could make some money out of selling their GF's on DVD and I am shocked they don't enquire or anything.
