The current system is an absolute mess in my opinion. I keep upto date with whats happening around the club, but this anchor/platinum/priority 1/platinum anchor system is too messy.
There is greater reward to purchase a $90 anchor that lasts for 5 years than there is to pay $125 to be a member each year.
My suggestion:
An ongoing rewards system where supporters earn 'points' and are placed in a priority accordingly.
Example:
A season ticket purchase = 200 points
A membership purchase = 200 points
A season ticket referral = 100 points
Lottery tickets sold = x points
Each time your season ticket is scanned at footy park = 10 points
Merchandise purchased at the club = x points
Meals and drinks purchased at the club = points
Each supporter will then be ranked at seasons end and prioritised accordingly. A fairer and more transparent system in my opinion. I think it could also change the mentallity of some supporters, increase revenue for the club and reward those who deserve it.
thoughts?
dont pay too much attention to how i allocated points, just needed to get the idea across.

Too complicated. And some of those disadvantage those living in the country/interstate/clashing sporting commitments for kids etc.
Eg. I live in Vic. and have a small child, so I'm lucky to get to a couple of games at footy park each year.
Mine would reward loyalty along the lines of -
Priority 1 - Member & Season ticket holder for over 10 years
Priority 2 - Member or Season ticket holder for over 10 years
Priority 3 - Member & Season ticket holder for 5 - 10 years
Priority 4 - Member or Season ticket holder for 5 - 10 years
Priority 5 - Member & Season ticket holder
Priority 6 - Member or Season ticket holder
If they want to include anchors, then priorities 1, 3 and 5 also would require anchors.
This way long term supporters are rewarded. And it doesn't take that long to get into priority 3/4.
As per currently people in each group get priority to ring.
So this year it'd be something like on the 18th. Priority 1 open 8am, 2 at 9.30am, 3 at 11am, 4 at 12.30pm, 5 at 2pm, 6 at 3.30pm.

The current system is an absolute mess in my opinion. ....The only thing wrong with the current system is that this season it has allowed queue jumpers.
i think its a joke that a season ticket/anchor holder gets preferrence over a season ticket/membership (platinum membership)

The anchors are locked in until the end of 2010. So the club cannot scrap it until then. If they did they could be sued under the Trades Practices Act sect 52 Misleading or deceptive conduct.
On TPFP this is the respone Tony Saulters, Customer Relations Manager gave to a member about the changes in priorites this year.
"....we have been asked by the AFL to combine some groups. Hence Priorities 1 and 2, and Priorities 3 and 4 were combined. Whilst this is the case for 2007 it is true that we have continued to sell anchors, and as such we are likely to revert to 6 priorities next year."

Not a bad idea at all Andre! :thumbsu:
As a younger supporter this would definately disadvantage me though. But then again I probably deserve to be disadvantaged as opposed to the older long-term ticket holders. Probably the only way to really distinguish who is a loyal supporter.

I agree with this statement wharfie. The original anchor cut off was 30 September 2006. They obviously did not sell as much as the previous one. The last anchor was capped at around 8,000 because of the MCG redevelopment. I think that more tickets are now available to members of the competing clubs. I paid up in September 2006. If more tickets are available to the club's members then I have no problem with the club deciding to sell more anchors if the pool of tickets is larger during 2007.
BUT the cut off date should have been 30th June or 24th August as originally planned. This way they could have issued barcodes in August and the staff would have been free to fix the stuff ups, rather than be under all this extra pressure. to process sales of anchors/memberships and finals tickets etc.
From the email from Tony Saulters I quoted in my last post.
Whilst we have continued to sell anchors rest assured we have not over sold the top priority so that it becomes a lottery. Whilst the ‘pool’ has got larger, the number of tickets on offer has also increased, and I am pleased to say that all members allocated a Priority 1 bar code will receive a Grand Final ticket if they want one.
