You're an assistant coach of a side playing in a semi final....your son is playing for the opposition.
Do you tell him who he is matching up on ?
Do you share some tactics he plans on using to nullify him?
Do you tell him some fibs to lead him and his team astray?
Vicky verka ...you are the son ...do you try to extract details off daddy?

or we can discuss if Thorp(e) will be playing this week....

Thorp is in, the AFL have given him permission to use crutches.
Jesse Smith has been grounded and is not allowed out to play.

id lead him down the wrong track... let it 'slip' how disappointed with some players form the coaches staff are and that theyll most likely be dropped.. major team structure changes, match ups and then act upset after the last training session and tell the missus, which he'll overhear, that someone tweaked something and will be pulled out on gameday... if the sons a good boy hell run straight to his coach!!
