Go The Mores # 2
13 Sep 2007, 18:45
With Brown and Jones out for the Roos they are left with a bunch of midgets cruising around in their forward line. Against Sydney we were faced with the same scenario and they killed us.
Im thinking
Croad V Petrie
Brown V Edwards
Gilham V Resting Ruckman
Ladson V Sansbury
What other forwards do they have ?

perhaps the Goo to take Shannon Grant - has been named at FF
Hale was also named in a pocket...

All of the above except that Gilham will take Hale who will spend 75% up forward. I reckon we put Smith on Hansen & let him run & set up for us, fall back options for Hansen or Edwards would be Birchall.

Interesting that they would include Hansen... he's played 1-2 senior games this year I think... whoever matches up on him should try and create some run off HB.
You may be able to run Hansen off with a quicker player as hes 6"6, but endurance wise you will have alot of trouble. Is in the top three in the club for 3km time trials, and the beep test.

I mean, who cares and who is he!! His team mates will be more interested in how quick he gets to the bar on Mad Monday in 4 days time!!

Seriously, we need to stop saying this game is in the bag. I've seen the Roos do this to us so many times. They, along with Sydney, (before this year) Port and Adelaide (before last week) are our bogey teams, who somehow manage to play extra well against us and usually get up, no matter how bad their form is.
Expect anything this weekend...

The difference being the Roos of 2007 are nowhere near as good as the Roos of 2000. Ipso facto, the 2007 Hawks are a better team than Hawks of 2000.

Are you sure about that? The Hawks of 2000 went on to play in a PF in 2001.

McMahon will play Jones' role, did okay against the Hawks last time. Hale will play forward, when he is rucking McIntosh will go forward. Hansen will probably be used forward at some point in time, he is a CHF/CHB and deserved to replace Brown months ago.
Other than that Grant, Harvey and maybe Wells will spend time up forward. Lower is also a chance, has been very good in the VFL finals to date.

Obviously the main players to match up in the midfield are Harvey and Simpson. Sewell will go to Harvey and Simpson will go to Mitch so Mitch needs to be accountable. The Roos have been using Wells and Sainsbury on the outside so I would think Ozzie and Vanders have a couple of more jobs this week.
Up forward the Roos will direct most of their traffic to Petrie and their resting ruckman. Croad should take Petrie but the ruckman may cause us hassles? Brown will nail Edwards and Smith should take McMahon and expose his lack of run.
Similar to last week, if we get on top in the middle we will win. However the Roos will come out firing, we need to be accountable earlier until our runners take over.
Go Hawks!!:D

I think Campbell Brown should get the Job on Shannon Grant when he is forward. Grant could give us a huge headache if he's on his game and Brown is capable of shutting him out of the game.
