I will be very dissapointed if we dont win, it wont be easy but if we play close to our best we should win. If we lose it because we didnt play close to our best or NM played a almost 'perfect' game

Franklin & Mitchell are huge in's for us this time and not having them definately cost us down at Tassie! On paper Hawks look the goods, there is no excuse why Hawks wont give the Roos their 2nd smashing in as many weeks & send them off like the over-achievers that they are!! :thumbsu:

Deservedly so but do you really think anything that is ever written on bigfooty really matters. So if they beat us they can have a crack and rub our noses in it and vice-versa. If a cocky opinion is backed up with some form of thoughful analysis I can see the value in reading it, otherwise laugh it off.

You will probably find similar posts before we played the Hawks in Tassie, don't think we ranted too much after the win.

You can jiggle statistics all you like but at the end of the day it all comes down to the temperament and application of the boys on the day. We know from North vs Hawks games that it can swing either way depending on who has midfield control/momentum.

Hawks have got some very good forwards that need to be held for us to win, I can understand supporters of the opposition being optimistic but I think the major danger for the Hawks will come from upstairs, i think if our players have recovered from last week's sodomization and go in especially hard to redeem themselves then that could be a dangerous element for the Hawks. If they have not recovered from it then I would expect the Hawks to find enough cracks in the walls to win.

so I guess you're saying it ALL deepends if the roos' minds have recovered.. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm NA can't agree with that.... I will say if we come out to play like I know we can then it will be an unfortunate end for the roos.

No, but I think that will play a significant role in the game. Teams either bounce back hard or lose confidence after a loss like that.

I think that a close loss after being competive all day can be as demoralising as a massive loss when you have played like crap.

Its going to be a battle for sure.

And i take exception to the comment that we have overachieved. I could say the same about the Hawks but the way i see it overachieving is alot better than underachieving. Neither side fluked where they finished and both sides deserved their place in the 8.

I have a lot of respect for the roos and the way they go about things but realistically, if both teams play to their upmost potential hawthorn will win this match. However Hawthorn's best doesn't come around as often as people think.
Eg our best games this year would have to be R9 vs WC, R10 vs Port, R12 vs Carlton, R18 vs Essendon and R21 vs Western Bulldogs. The rest were either solid or disappointing.
North shut down Hawthorn the last time they played, causing them to make errors and lack structure going forward.
Furthermore, Jones kicked 7 last time (a thorn we no longer have in our side this time around) and Sansbury and Whyman chipped in for a couple.
If hawthorn can break even in the middle (the midfields are relatively even) I think Hawthorn will have too much firepower upforward. Just can't see the Roos kicking a winning score without players like Jones and Thompson.
Take for example the R3 game. Hawthorn were atrocious in the first half but the intensity level picked up in the 2nd half and so did the hawks and I thought that the roos threw everything at us that day but we totally outplayed them in the 2nd half.
Make no mistake if Hawthorn come to play tomorrow night, I can't see the roos competing, because when we are on we tend to pile on the goals alot more than the roos do.

If Hawthorn match the intencity they showed against Adelaide then we will win.
