View Full Version : Would you rather keep Judd or Priddis?

In the Tarrant trade debacle last season, the Pies were after a young mid and a pick, Rosa's name was thrown around but the Pies wanted Priddis. And I absolutely supported it, it was beyond me how he wasn't in your team for most of last season ahead of some of the 2nd tier mids you had playing.

Chris Judd is a superstar, but if Collingwood was to play for someone from the Eagles, I think it would better be Matt Priddis, he is an in and under midfielder who knows how to find it. I laughed yesterday when the commentators mentioned how he is at EVERY SINGLE CONTEST around the ground. That speaks something about his endurance/fitness, especially on a ground like Subi!

Back to the trade talks, I think Juddy would obviously make a massive difference for any team, but at where Collingwood is at at the moment, we would rather the younger, more in and under midfielder.

PieLebo hopes; {WCE decide to re-sign Judd and reject everyones offers, whilst agreeing to a trade with Collingwood for Priddis} ; Yes, I DO need a change of undies now :(

Top youngster you guys have, and he will prove himself as bigger then Cousins and Kerr (not sure about Kerr, as he is still only very early 20s).

On a separate note, I've said it a million times since last night, but I'll say it again, top top top top game of footy last night, the AFL can try dragging down the league with BS rules, and methods of going about things, but when it comes to the games, some teams are showing us why we live for this sport.

Priddis every day of the week. Hes only on around 200k a year compared to Judds 1 mill. Priddis is loyal, hard working, so far in his career he hasnt been injury prone and he wants to be here for his whole career

Judd is the better player but he isnt loyal and he doesnt want to spend his whole career here

True I dont know where Juddys loyalty is. But Judd on his day is the best in the league. But on saying if we traded judd for fev and a high draft pick. I would not be worried knowing that we have Priddis to cover his load.

Because 38 possessions with 9 tackles, being the main midfielder is astounding. Especially being his first final

You're a tool mate.

He hasn't even left you yet, for all we know he could re-sign tomorrow.

It's been well known since he was drafted that Judd would want to return to Melbourne to be with his family eventually, that still didn't stop him from re-signing with you last time when ten clubs from Victoria were offering the guy the world and more.

As good as Priddis is Judd is the best player in the AFL and I'd give my left testicle to have him at Carlton.

How can you really say the guy is injury prone when before this season he had missed hardly any games in his entire career. You don't think he is hard working? The guy busted his ass with an injury so bad that he could barely walk to help try and get your side in a grand final this year.

Do you hate Stenglein too? Is he not worthy of your approval?

Also don't use Judd as a scapegoat for the fact your club is struggling to fit its players under the salary cap, you can blame the fact that guys like Darren Glass, Daniel Kerr and Dean Cox would be commanding a fair bit of coin as well as the rest of your list of guns. Judd deserves 1 million dollars per season, unfortunate for you guys if you can't afford to give it to him.

I am so glad you aren't a Carlton supporter.

For once, and I am shocked to say it, I agree with a Carlton supporter. Eagles supporters have badmouthed Judd since the final siren last night, forgetting he has played half a year with a serious injury. Loyalty cannot be questioned considering he is a Victorian. It's like them saying he's not aloyal vic and bagging him, or whoever he supported as a youngster saying he mustnt have been a loyal fan. I sometimes like Embers opinions, but not how he acts like his word is straight from the group itself.

Judd by a mile, Priddis has been outstanding for us this year, but Chris Judd is a once in a generation player.

Priddis.

Judd is not worth the salary cap cost in a team full of midfielders.
Give him to Carlton for Fev and Pick 3.
Fev 500,000 + Young player is better value for West Coast right now.

Thinking back it was Rosa for Tarrant, AND our first draft pick going their way as well.

If the rumours doing the rounds are anywhere near true, Fevola is the better full forward, and this 'deal' sees the draft pick coming this way.

Rosa PLUS a first rounder was too much for Tarrant, who is simply not in the class of Fevola, Pavlich, Brown etc.

FWIW, I have been surprised by the reaction of some to Judd. He hasn't even made a decision and some seem to already be calling him a traitor. IF, he goes, as long as he doesn't leave us high and dry in the PSD, I think he can leave knowing Chris Judd has done more for the Eagles and it's supporters than we ever could have asked.

If we happen to get a class full forward out of it, having someone like Priddis showing he is stepping up would offset the loss to a degree, though Judd in the midfield can do things not many can, Priddis included.

err if you people have problems with loyalty i dont want fev. He has said numerous times he loves carlton and wants to stay etc.

he will be pissed off if they traded him to us, i think me might spit the dummy, which he is known for doing.

In terms of football skills, fraky shit on the field and onfield leadership, Judd.

BUT, Judd is and always will be Victorian, therefore the question will always remain....will he go home?

I just love Priddis to death so Im happy to keep him, as Judd would fetch more in the trade market.

So in short Priddis, Im so over the Judd talk right now. :thumbsu:

I think we all have to come to terms with the fact that he will eventually play for a Victorian team.

As a player;
Judd > Priddis.

As a clubman;
Judd < Priddis.

Nothing more on my part.

Just certain signs point to something else that ticks in the great mind of Chris Judd.

Whether he leaves or not doesn't decide whether he was a clubman.

Was Chicky a clubman at the Hawks?

I'm just basing it on the fact that Priddis said West Coast is the only team he ever wants to play for.

And Judd having said he wants to finish his career in Melbourne. I'm not saying he's not giving his all, but when you've pretty much conceeded you're going to play for another team, you have to wonder where his thoughts are at.

I'm fairly certain someone close to the Judd camp has said it, ie. manager, agent. Or maybe the media's getting to me. Bastards.

And yeah, clubman probably wasn't the right word, but I couldn't think of a more suitable one.

Priddis.

Judd has always been injury prone and if I recall that was a concern when we first picked him up, well, his shoulder was. The question Carlton or anyone else needs to be asking themselves is this, how likely are Judd's injuries to re-occur during his career?

The "sources close to" crap I'm sick off.

FFS even Juddy's manager came out 6 weeks ago and said he'd re-sign - which Judd himself had to come out and (partially) deny

If we are talking about the same situation. It was his manager who said it. Judd rebutted the statement a few days later saying that his manager was presenting his personal opinion and he had not had discussion with his manager about his thoughts.

So yeah.. i wouldn't trust that statement that much. Also, the rest has just been more assumptions from the media.

I've gotta say I'm surprised and a little disappointed at some of the comments about Judd in this thread and others since last night.

Judd was an 18 year old kid drafted by a club on the other side of the country without any power to influence that decision.

In 6 years he has been nothing other than fully committed to the club and has given all of us a lot of joy in the process.

He hasn't said he's leaving or given any indication that he will, just that he didn't want to discuss his contract until the season was over.

I like everyone else want to know what he's doing but let's just wait until the decision is made before jumping into him.

I still think he'll sign on for another two years at least before he goes to Melbourne (if he ever does). I admire what he has given this club, lead us to a premiership and dominated for the last four years.

Is this a serious question: would you rather keep Judd or Priddis? Priddis is a great player and had a superb year but he's never going to be a Chris Judd.

I don't think Judd will leave anyway. Two Victorian clubs overlooked Judd, West Coast took a risk with him and he's achieved great things here. Unless there is some very serious personal reason why he needs to go back to Victoria I don't think he'll leave.

The odd west coast fans seem to have always had a slight anti-Judd bent. Yes there're a risk that he'll go back to victoria, but "it's better to have loved and lost".
Judd is undoubtedly an infinitely superior player to priddis. I'm not sure people realise just how rare it is to have a player as capable in the clearances as they are in the flashy line-breaking.
He may not sign on as soon as he's offered a contract (as priddis does), but I would imagine if priddis was as sought after as judd is, he'd hold out (if only to earn more money, even if he always intended to stay). Obviously it would be preferable if judd stuck by the team no matter how much he was going to get paid, but the fact that he's holding out doesn't mean we shouldn't "repect him as a person" (looking at you embers). It just means he's not mahatma ghandi!
Finally, I'm sure I'll get a huge amount of disapproval for this, but if I was offered the choice between a flag this year, or a guarantee of judd completely getting over his groin problems I'd probably choose the latter. I know flags are what footy's all about (and I'm sure I was just as extatic as everyone here when we won last year), but I'm not sure people realise just how much of a loss it is to miss out on the best of the greats of our game. Judd either is already one of the greats or at the very least is capable of becoming one. For that reason alone, I'd wish him all the best if he chose to leave us (as shattering as that'd be)- not because he's an ex-west coast player, but because he's the kind of player I intend to tell me grand-kids about.
