I would actually really like Stenglein to be captain.

Glass would be my first choice, but it might be a bit hard from full back.

I'd prefer to see a young guy get it. Someone who could build a dynasty. Priddis isn't a bad choice.

Cox would fit the bill perfectly! Glass doesn't like the media spot light too much and I wouldn't want it to affect his game. Cousins will obviously still have a lot to say on the field but I'm sure Coxy would be ideal! :thumbsu:

How about Co Captains?

Cox and Glass? They both deserve it.

If just one Captain than I would choose Big Cox.

Put Glass, Stinger, Kerr and Priddis as vice captains.

I would suggest Embley but he is way too injury prone.

He is the most deserving and never bailed on the club.

Redo this poll... One major name is missing!

Wirrapanda

I'd like to see Wirra and Cox be given Co-captain duties like Cousins/Mckenna? IIRC.

Now Wirra is a TRUE Champion of the Club....

When you compare to Opie.

Came to the club as a 16 year old. Left a close family in country Victoria.
But he felt honour bound to our club.... yes Honour to wear the Colours.

Even while his Mum was sick, the guy has never thought about running out.

Leads by example.

Must be Captain next year... Even for only one year, its a good move i think.

Yep, Braun is another who deserves it and would make a great captain.

Then see out of Cox, Kerr, Priddis, etc who is the next long term leader.

Braun and Wirra Co-captains.
Show the Victorians that West Coast is more important than state.

One thing is for certain... our captain must be someone who loves the club and who's heart is in it.

I find it embarrassing for WC that Judd left - when is the last time that a premiership captain left their club? I'm not sure whether this speaks more of Judd's character or more because he was pushed into being captain despite not being truly loyal to the club. Hearing the words from Gooding, Woosha, etc it seems they all knew he would not stick around forever. Why did the offer the captaincy to someone they knew wasn't loyal?

I don't care who the next captain is so long as their heart is in it and they will remain loyal through the good times and the bad.

I saw him play... against Collingwood last Friday. Sure he dropped one mark (no talk from teammates?) but he played well up front.

Twice though he had an op to kick a long goal, but he passed it off doing the team thing.... which is more than i can say for tools like Lecras, Rosa, and Lynch who all did selfish acts which cost us goals.

Fremantle? You mean the club with a loyal Non WA skipper and superstar?..

Wirra is just about done. We don't want to drop our captain to the WAFL if he has a bad month.

The Pav/Judd situations are so different it's not funny. When Pav (as described accurately by Grant Thomas), wins a premiership with Freo, he might go. But believe me, if he was from Melbourne, he would've left Freo 5 years ago.

Judd wants the biggest stage, biggest market, etc Who cares, he's gone.

RE Wirra.
McKenna was done also in his Captaincy, so what?
Even though he probably won't get it, he's definately worthy and respected by all.

I think Glass would be an excellent vice captain, but as myself and few others have mentioned he doesn't really like being 'out there' and likes to keep to himself a bit so I don't think in that regard he would be the best. Cox is definitely my preferred choice. Captain Cox! :thumbsu:

RE Wirra.
McKenna was done also in his Captaincy, so what?

That's bollocks, he was made captain in 1999 and played probably his best season for us that very year. His decline was rapid but he was a clear and obvious choice for captain.

He also captained the team the majority of 1996-98 when Woosha missed a vast amount of time with injury.

Wirra is no chance to be captain, he won't even be in contention to be a VC.

Cox or Glass, ideally Cox because he's better with the media.

West Coast Premiers 2006

No.

No qualms with his on field leadership but his off field shit during the off season has contributed in part to why we aren't still in the finals race and why we are crying over Judd walking away.

Cox or Glass should be captain - I would be happy with either. Cox would be a more polished performer in front of the media but I think Glass showed great leadership early this year when we needed a steadying influence during the Cousins fallout.

Darren Glass 26
Michael Braun 29
Adam Hunter 26
Andrew Embley 26
Tyson Stenglein 27
Daniel Kerr 24

I think we should be looking at a long term captain here not another 2, 3 yearer.
When i played sports, football included, the captain was usually the best player, the 1 you rely on to lift when they have to. The one all the opposition see as the person most likely to win you the game. Kerr is the 1 in my opinion. He may not be the greatest speaker yet, but that can be taught. He may have had off field issues, but i am pretty confident he has learnt his lesson, And i am pretty confident he will be our most influential player in the next few years, maybe even displacing Judd as the leagues best midfielder.
Remember when Cousins became sole captain, i think he was voted worst captain in the league at one stage, he is a prime example of someone growing into the role, same with Judd, but screw him. Anyway i doubt Kerr will get it but dam id love it if he did, plus im pretty sure he has blue and yellow blood!

Have to agree with you there mate. Very fluent speaker and is not media shy at all! Great ruckman with some of the best ball skills you will see for a guy over six foot. I can't understand some of these 'votes'

Cousins is a total NO ! He's been there, done it and screwed it. Sad but true.

Cox wants it, and the media attention, far too much.

Braun's a good guy but nearly shot anyway.

Kerr's too young, but in a year or two, possibly.

RoJo would be a GREAT "how to piss 'em all off choice", which I'd like :) but won't happen of course.

Glass is so way out in front, I can't see why there's any discussion about it
