View Full Version : Alessio, Heffernan, McVeigh - who wants to trade them now?

These 3 blokes played great games on Saturday night - Ses definete BOG, Heff has a great first half, and Spike was good in defence. Now all we need is a great backup performance against Norf this week and we'll be looking good. (although I don't want to get ahead of myself).
The only downside was I was going to include Dean Rioli in this thread, but after what he did to Williams, his year isn't getting better. It doesn't look good, but I would like to know what the hell he was thinking when he did it.

I've never made comments on Cess or McVeigh but i am president of the trade Heffernan club and i still remain a staunch supporter of palming him off to Carlton for one of their early draft picks. Yes he played well against Sydney. Whoop-de-****ing-do. McKernan also played well on the weekend so what does that tell you? Heffernan is a very average player who we would not miss in the slightest so let's trade him whilst he still has a reasonable market value.
I still have mcveigh on my list. Rioli is fast approaching his spot though.

heff had a good game against collingwood too, and adelaide. I thought he's been having a pretty good season
Heff's coming good, Ces I think that you would be a nutcase to trade (let him play out his days as a veteran, if necessary).
Spike still has to prove his point for my money.
Despite being a big Dean Rioli fan, I think he would need to be lucky at the Tribunal and put some pretty good games together to avoid becoming trade bait. Mind you, I think there's still time for the turtle man.
Nobody's mentioned Bolton or McAlister (shudder) yet.

Welcome to bigfooty Gozzo. ;)
We all know round here that McAlister and bolton are worthless. Infact, none of us in here dare mention the M word.
I would trade either Heffernen or Blumfield but only for a top 5 draft pick though. Also depends on how strong this year draft crop is.
Both are highly skilled players but do not do enough week in week out and there lies the problem.
The other problem we have is that other teams do not like trading with us. We had to practically give away Hardwick and
we all know he is worth more than a second and third round pick.

I couldn't agree with you more there! Big Ses (or is it "Cess"?!?) was definitely BOG.
Heff was back to his 2000 best, whenever he got a hold of the ball, he was untouchable, baulking players in the middle and around the packs easily. It was great to see him back!:D :D
We (North) will gladly take Heffernan off your hands thanks! Um, you can have Joe McLaren, Brady Rawlings and we might even throw in Adam Lange just to shut you up!
I obviously dont watch your team as closely as you "people" do, but i've always had alot of time for this bloke. Tall, well skilled and moves fantastically. Have him at North no dramas!
And did i read someone mention arsing Blumfield? He's be our number 1 midfielder at North! We'll take him gladly!!

I wouldn't trade Forensic Clayton (if the cops got hold of the match ball and did tests, all they'd find is Shane's finger prints!!) for anyone!! All class is our Shane! Dark horse for the Brownlow and All Australian honours!
I'm on drugs.

I never wanted Cess, Heff or Macca traded, but I agree with M29, I'm starting to have my doubts about Rioli.

Some of you are being way too harsh on Rioli. Yes - he's a knob for eye-gouging, but i thought he was just starting to get a bit of form back. (that is, until he decided to turn into Libba...)
Let's see how he goes when he's back. If he starts firing, he'd be a fantastic addition to our forward line.
Oh, and didn't Carlos the Jackal go to jail about 5 years ago??

Totally agree, he was just starting to get some touch back.
I was probably like a lot of other people in that I thought he was rushed back to soon, but if was probably going to get back to AFL level match fitness quicker by playing in the seniors rather than playing in the magoos and beating weaker opposition.

He wasn't rushed back too soon - he was not used to the additional weight which he gained over the summer. He has the skills and talent, but when your 5-6 kilos over your perfect playing weight, you're gonna struggle.
If he drops the weight, he'll drop the opposition.
