But I notched up post 10,000 last week.
Don't know whether to be proud or utterly ashamed.

I'd think its a little from Column A and a little from Column B with regard to post numbers TBD.....Quality over Quantity but you may have managed both! Congrats

You shouldn't be using the UQ library computers to go on the internet to check BigFooty... :p

walks on the beach > being stuck in traffic
Anyway, well done on 10 thousand. Make sure you check out the 10k board. The shit that goes on there will blow your mind.

I live in the Bayside, roughly 2 minutes walk from Waterloo Bay.
What is this 10k board of which you speak?

Something that I'll never achieve. Been here for 7 years and still haven't cracked 3000 :D Least I get the 1100 days board (don't wait up for it, that's about how often someone posts in there :))
Congrats TBD!!

Love your stuff TBD........... But this is the 2nd self-promotional thread you have started in less than a month. Not a fan of them myself (sends out some strange signals IMO).
You really want to become the Lions version of Joffa?
PS. Credibility tends to drop immediately if this is the case.

At least i don't have an entire thread broadcasting every thought that happens to pop into my head.

Daniel strikes me as a very smart guy. I suspect if he wrote down every thought he had, then his post count would be Grimreepah like.

I wont tell you about a telephone call I received from him yesterday then.

Dan is a clever chap but his intelligence would have to improve dramatically for his post count to be 'Grimreepah like'.

Oi!!
You'd all agree that Dr Karl is pretty smart, with radio show on Triple J and his books etc about science.
I've known him for a long time.
You should see some of our intermittent email traffic. Yet, no I won't be sharing.

You know what I like about Superstring Theory?

I might have to pay you out (intentionally ambiguous).
How about I talk to Big Red and see if he'll have a drink with you on a Saturday? 6 October is looking good.

From a mathematical perspective...
I'm more familiar with quantum mechanics than relativity (more maths and chemistry than physics at uni).
The wave and particle theories of light made me wonder a bit.
Any theory that attempts to unify e-m and relativity is just incredible.
So Klein assuming that the fifth dimension would have a totally different topology was a bit of a Eureka moment (and thinking outside the square, so to speak, in more ways than one).
The whole thing is rather elegant.
To tell you the truth, the only maths that I actually liked was third year fluid mechanics.
It was a bit like deriving Newton's laws from mathematical principles. The first time you do it, it blows your mind!

Why does this thread remind me of my dog's,( Jack and Pooch plus Oscar who we are babysitting), when they have a peeing contest and smell each other's butts. Pretty sure none of them studied applied science.
