View Full Version : Trade Pick 1!

Just humour me people.....obviously all of this is based on media speculation, and far be it for me to pretend I'll be the one making any decisions but consider this:
Judd is arguably the best player in the AFL. We will therefore need to trade accordingly, it seems quite clear he's not going to walk for nothing.
We lack experience and would obviously benefit greatly from his addition to our list, but I can't help but feel like through the desperation of our current situation we're going to offer too much.
If we keep pick 1, we're looking at trading pick 3, 20 and a player...speculation suggests Kennedy as he's from WA.
IMO Fev needs to be at Carlton next year. Trading him for Judd would be stupid, it doesn't improve our team structure, however retaining him and adding Judd (and Stevo back) does.
Waite, Fisher, Kennedy (if he's there) are better players with Fev in the side. They would be far less potent if they were our teams key forwards. We have no other players who could fill the void left by Fev.
If we were to trade pick 1 and 20, it would show WCE we're prepared to negotiate reasonably (as I think we should) in terms of trading the top pick for the top player. We may still have to look at trading a player, but perhaps Bower would be the one to go rather than Kennedy.
We would obviously keep pick 3.
Speculation suggests WCE are keen on Morton, and they don't need a ruckman having just re-signed Seaby. If they were to pick Morton, Richmond would then most likely take Kreuzer and Cotchin could fall in our laps.
So we'd gain Cotchin/ Judd and lose the opportunity to take Kreuzer, as well as Bower and pick 20.
Just throwing it out there. First and foremost Judd needs to decide which club is his preference, so really till then this is all irrelevant. I really hope the powers that be think this through properly, as with a young list salary cap will become an issue down the track.

Stupid. We can secure him without trading pick one, that we will could have Kreuzer AND Judd in the midfield. Sound good to anyone else?
they will be lucky to get pick 3.

I understand where you're coming from, but the Carlton Football Club rates Kreuzer higher than any other player in the draft. They believe that he is a once in a generation player and trading pick 1 would be a huge mistake. Cotchin and Morton are guns, but they are midfielders/Utility. Gun mids can be found year after year in the draft, but Carlton believe that Kreuzer is the type of player that appears once every 10 years.

The best option is trade Kennedy, Bower and pick 20. Keep fev, pick 1 and 3.:thumbsu:

What do you think is a fair trade for that to eventuate? I should also note, I don't necessarily think going after Judd is the answer when considering what we're going to have to part with.
I hope we don't lose sight of chasing Matt Maguire!

Ultimately they know what's best and I hope, like the rest of us, that they make the right decision.

It's a big possibility that McGuire could be drafted via PSD.

They might be forced to accept our offer because they wouldn't want to lose him via the PSD without gaining some compensation.

I'd assume the Tigers would be sniffing around Maguire too. I can't see him leaving...but as we've just witnessed anything could happen!

could work out that way, but have to see which club Judd wants to come to first.

**** em if they get greedy.
They are not realising they have no bargaining power over this if Judd lists CFC as a club he wants to be at.

Haha, no. We don't need to.

I reckon #3, #20 and one of Kennedy and Bower is very fair.

Especially Bower. I would settle for Kennedy but I would be ecstatic if we could land him with Bower. He would be the perfect role model for Gibbs, Murph and the like...

I think that if we were in WCE's position we'd also want an upcoming player.
The fact that other players (of less quality) have been traded for about the same as 3 & 20 makes me think we'll need to put up more.

it doesnt make a difference for the eagles if they get one or three as they dont want a ruckman and 2+3 will be midfielders from the WA......i would go 3....whitnall and someone else

I highly doubt they would have any interest in Lance.

As much as I'd like to get Chris Judd there is no way I want to give up pick 1.
Pick 3 and either Bower or Kennedy I could swallow.
We must also be sure we are not inheriting damaged goods or should I say groins?
Also, we are still in a strong position remember Nick Stevens ended up a blue after Port refused to deal with Collingwood.
By my calculations West Coast deal with us or they risk him going into the PSD and he goes to Richmond for nothing. I somehow don't think they'll allow that to happen.

Putting us in the box seat! I don't think the West Coast supporters get this...they still seem to think they are getting Fev and pick#1!

If you dont give us what we want, we will move to the next club on Judd's preference list. He has said its not his wish to enter the PSD and do the club over.
Besides, we have a handshake agreement with Richmond that they wont persue Judd strongly (thus limited the PSD pressure) and in return we wont take Kreuzer at pick 1.
Richmond cant afford Judd and wont be in play at all.

Who is Bower? Ive never heard of him
And Lance whitnall? Im not too sure if he has too much value left in him. And he would be the first to eat all the hamburgers off our sponsor, Hungry Jacks
The Blues have ruled out trading pick #1, so it doesn't matter. :)
