View Full Version : Can we deal something other than picks / players ?
I don't know the rules here, but do we have to offer them a draft pick or even a trade ? What are the rules ? If Judd wanted to come to Carlton could Dick say offer West Coast a new 10 million$ training facilities (over the top I know) for Judd ? We get picks 1,3,20 keep Fev, Kennedy and pick up Judd.
Say hello flag.
Further what was the upshot of trading away priority picks ? I thought his was banned ?

No, the AFL would have a conniption if clubs started throwing money around instead of players/picks. I'm sure it violates all sorts of rules.
Does anyone actually know about this though ?
it is west coast so maybe a couple mill of columbias finest would do the trick.

I'm sure we could manufacture a Judd for pick 20 trade, and coincidentally, Visy will sign up as WC's new major sponsor the following week. ;)

Yea and then the AFL would turn into the Premier League where only 5 teams have a shot each season, every season because the rest have 5% of the money they do.

Actually make the lines on Subiaco out of nose-candy... they would like that.

That's right. The AFL with it's draft and salary cap and ridiculously tight trading rules is all about parity. It's frustrating sometimes, but it works. Anyone can beat anyone on their day, and every team is only a few years away from being competitive. They do it well, I think most would begrudgingly admit that.

Would never like to see this happen but you've gotta admit it would be fun winning flags for a while...

5 teams?????
you mean 4
Right so this is a possibility as far as people know, if not ethically then legally.
If it is possible to do, then I would not hesitate doing it for a second, they certainly shafted us, and the loop hole would be quickly filled.
Look into it Pratt.
Further, what is the solution to the trading of priorities conundrum ?

No, as far as people know, it's absolutely NOT allowed in the AFL.

Easy solution. Pratt buys out the AFL and creates a new set of rules.

Yeah, give the richest club in the league what they need - money! Hey, maybe we could fund a membership drive for them??

As far as people know they actually DONT KNOW mate. If you find out let us know in the meantime we are speculating.
Consider a lexus center, why not a Visy center, no reason what so ever. There would be huge implications but people are already doing deals all over the place outside of the trade laws, any idiot knows this. This idea is well outside the salary cap model as it is not even to a player but rather a trade.
As far as I can tell its a reality, the real question is should we do it and would we do it...

No, to make a trade each team must offer a drakt pick or a player to it to be afair trade.

You have to trade a player or pick and only a player or pick

Pratt could offer a sponsorship deal to the Weagles.
Know he was a heavy backer of the Sydney Swans,
even bid for them during the Edelsten fiasco
when he was a major money man at Carlton.
