If there is more than one, list your main instrument.
I know we've done threads like this before but I don't think we ever had a poll.

That makes two :)
Somehow I think either that or guitar wins pretty decisively, but I wanted to include everything.

All of the ones listed except for horns, although i'd like to change that when i have enough money to buy a sax & a trumpet! :( :)
Voice atm. Getting a guitar soon. Been a while since I've played.

I used to play the keyboard, but I gave up. I found it so boring...but it was probably the teacher! I would really love to learn to play the guitar though.

Drums & Guitar about the same, can obviously play a bit of bass as a result (but I'm no funkmeister on that). I also like to sing, but everyone else around me probably doesn't like that fact! :)
Not too happy about woodwind being classed as horns - however, I play sax and flute, although its been a few years since I've seriously played either.
Hoping to find some spare time to get back into playing in the near future.

electric guitar
nice instrument to learn
Drums. Drove the everyone nuts at home, expect one brother who used to pull out the violin and make the cat cry.
But who can forget those years they made us learn the recorder at primary school. Ahhhh that sweet sweet sound.
Guitar...im no genius, but i dont put enough time into it to become one.

Trumpet's are horns
Saxaphone's are woodwinds
Sold my Sax for magic beans 5 years ago and haven't been able to afford one since - yes, i'm a ********.
Will be returning to my saxaphone playing ways shortly though when i purchase a second hand "King" from my friend in South Melbourne.

Played guitar for years. The work I've put into them has payed handsome dividends. It's good to spend a lot of time studying music, but the bottom line is, the longer you have your instrument in your hands, mouth, feet (what-have-you) the better you become. There is no other magic formula.
I work an odd schedule, and sometimes I'm home alone when everyone else - friends, girlfriends - are gone and working. Having guitars in the house is like always having a best friend over. Uhmm.... but not like having a girlfriend over. Not quite. ;)
Peace,

As long as you don't go and buy a saprano sax and pretend to be Kenny G, you'll be right.

Speaking of - am I the only one who doesnt get the point of the soprano sax???? It's just too high pitched and tinny for my liking.

It's for people like Kenny G to turn around and say "i play sax" and sound cool :D
There is not point to the sOprano (yes, i spelt it wrong!!) saxaphone.
The the scheme of musical performance, the pitch and tone of a soprano is covered by both the Clarinet and the Flute, thus rendering it usless.
There is a tale of "how" the soprano sax came to be. Something along the lines of some guy refusing to play a Clarinet unless it was made of gold or something like that.
Stupid story, but who knows.
In a nut shell, there is not point to the soprano sax.

Exactly how I see it. You have the flute for the clear high pitched sounds and the Clarinet for the "lower" (range - and the woodiness of the clarinet to compliment the "tinniness" of the higher instruments, giving some bass and character.

Gees I refuse to eat a meat pie without tomato sauce - but does that mean sauce should become standard on all meat pies and it should be forced upon everyone - NO!

I think that guy was Kenny G (yes i really dislike him) :D
(just kidding about the Kenny G remark, the story however is what i was told)
Spot on regarding the first point.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that, most likely, everyone else beat Kenny G up and stole his lunch money.
Nothing wrong with the Soprano Sax in my opinion. What about John Coltrane? Directions In Groove (DIG)? Apart from Kenny G (why can't they kill THIS Kenny????) they sound cool. Kenny sucked the life out of the Soprano, rendering it useful only for elevator/supermarket music. I myself would love to own one, and to turn it back into a respectable instrument. I actually love the sound (well, when John Coltrane has it in his chops).
Just my $0.02
Oh, and I play Tenor, and a bit of Baritone Sax.

Way back in school I played alto sax.
Picked up my sister's acoustic guitar one day and haven't looked back. I have upgraded since the old yamaha nylon string days, but I still only own acoustics. I'm not brilliant, but I go down alright when we go bush and have a few tunes (oooh-errr that sounded a bit rude).
I LOVE MY MATON:)
I've been playing drums for around 12 years now, professionally for about 8 of them.
But i also play a mean armpit!!

Guitar.
I was a full time musician for over 20 years, played with lots of people.
You can go to my out of date web page and see who they were and have a listen to how I used to play (I hung the boots up just over 6 years ago).
