100% right.. I should have used IN MY OPINION before.. The reality is, I never said that I agreed with the decisions of where the games are held, I have my own opinions on that and they differ to everyone elses... But the reality is, the RDFL board made the call on the final locations, there is no point coming up with petty arguments about which fence is too close to the goal posts... The venues have been decided, lets move on to the action on field.. If the senior Melton club have any ownership on game day then it is a disgrace.. No doubt, totally agree.. But the information that I have received, and I can only go by the information I received not heresay, is that Centrals couldn't host both games, and as George explained, that is fair enough, so the Bloods juniors are hosting the canteen on the main ground. Whatever people's choices are in buying from which canteen is your own decision. I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing with the venues chosen, merely attempting to pass on the facts of the finals games that were given to me.

Hmm I was told today that it was the senior club running the day. Irrelevant if it is the junior or senior club, it should be a senior R.D.F.L club running the day. I would prefer Rockbank or even better Macedon running the day than the Bloods. Considering both Rockbank and Centrals compete with sponsorship dollars against the bigger clubs in Melton and Melton South (which we are disadvantaged) I would have thought that this would in some way help out with our financial situations. The league needs to have a serious look at this and really need to look after the senior clubs in the R.D.F.L and their futures and not line the pockets of clubs outside of it!
Well done to Rockbank, awesome effort and I have no doubt you will knock off Kilmore this week. Good luck guys! Can anyone tell me when Rockbank last notched a win (besides last week) and when was the last time they put two wins together?? good one for the trivia buffs!
I will tell you why the Bloods senior club has to run it, because they hold the liquor licence. You can only have one liquor licence, at one location, at one point in time. You cannot apply for a temporary licence when a licence exists for that location. The Bloods liquor licence would be for the complete football season (the cricket club would have the other 6 months). Booth licences (tents) must relate back to a Location based Licence (their rooms). Without the Bloods licence you would not be able sell alcohol at the main ground. Check Mate - drop your pants!!!!

You might know more than me here but let me explain the situation as I know it. Melton Centrals will sell from their clubrooms and a booth under their liquor licence. Any alcohol sold from those outlets can only be consumed in-accordance with their licence. Their licence will only cover the number 2 ground. You can not carry alcohol into another licenced area, e.g. number 1 ground as that is covered by the Bloods liquor Licence. This is why bringing alcohol in to grounds on any game day is a breach of the home clubs liquor licence. BYO is not allowed. If the RDFL thinks it can sell alcohol at the number 2 ground and then carry it into the number 1 area they need to have a look at the licencing act/rules. My understanding is it would be breaking the law.

The only thing I would agree with you is that the Board made the decision - I don't think Scott is that silly!
Your completely right, I have it on good authority that he was spewing they made the decision to have the game away from Macedon. He thought they could play the netball at another venue or even on the tennis courts.
Now he is going to cop everyones rath.......

There is no finals schemozzle.. The board made their decision on where and when finals would be hosted. The same as they do every year.. Unfortunately for some and luckily for others.. Its a decision that has been made and passed at board level.. Story finished.
The schemozzle is the format not the location.
How is this fair - Macedon finish 6th with 10 losses for the year Riddell finish top without a loss. Riddell have a harder final against the 2nd placed team than Macedon playing the 3rd placed team. Riddell and Macedon win and they then become equal. Both have the double chance both have 2 chances to go into the Grand Final. SCHEMOZZLE!!

I thought we all new about the Finals system at the start of the season and it has taken till now to realise it mighnt be the best final 6 system around but heres the challenge. We know there is only two final 6 systems availbe can we think or make up a better one. Remember it gave the RDFL another finals game.

The Ballarat one is not ideal but is better. The change that should be made next year is the highest winner out of 3, 4 and 5 gets to take on the winner of 1 and 2. At the moment 6th can win 2 games and be in a Grand Final - 4 and 5 have to win 3 to make it. Finishing 6th is better than 4th or 5th which does not make sense. Enough said about this topic from me.

1 V 6
2 v 5
3 v 4
Two highest ranked winners play off in the 2nd Semi (Winner to GF/Loser to Prelim)
Two lowest ranked losers are eliminated.
3rd highest ranked winner and 3rd highest ranked loser play off in 1st Semi (Elimination, Winner to Prelim)
First week finals held at the home of the higher ranked team.
Following weeks held at selected grounds.

The other idea I heard that I didn't mind either was
1st and 2nd get week 1 off and play in the 2nd Semi (Winner to GF/Loser to Prelim)
1st week
3 v 6 and 4 v 5 - Winners play off in 1st Semi (Winner to Prelim)

good to see matt nicholls post again. any chance for bowen and flag odds again? not just matt but anyone who wants to have a go
for this weeks gamers i think my tips are
Rockbank to go two in a row against kilmore who struggling but i heard they played not too bad last week against walln. 30 points
Sunbury off beating woodsy last week should beat the cats at home by about 6 goals
Riddell to beat lanny by about 80 odd without too much problem
Diggers should smash romsey who will hit prety hard early as they would have been shattred after losing last week but diggers to good 60 points
to those at riddell bomber did not vomit in the pub last friday it was just a joke hope that clears the air for you bomber.:thumbsu:

Well thank you for that, I stand corrected then.
So that then clears up the Bloods Finals fund raising issue at our Final........ be it Juniors or Seniors running it - Melton Bloods will ultimately gain our RDFL $$$ on that day !
& whats more - with the way the junior clubs make shit loads of $$$$$, it could be said that the RDFL has been Financial propping up the likes of these BFL & BFL Club/s for years now !
Good..... I am glad we sorted that out.

You've missed the whole point Davo! Who said Centrals were subletting the canteen? It's not by choice. The Bloods will not allow Centrals use their precious facilities! In the Bloods eyes, it's not Centrals canteen to sublet, it's what they are saying to make themselves look like they're helping the league! RDFL wanted to run a double headed but the pompous big wigs at Melton only agreed to this if they were to run the main oval! Melton have the council bent over with that ground. You need permission from the Bloods to run finals and school carnivals not the council. That's how it's run in Melton! Talk about corrupt!!
Again the choice to run the game here and not Macedon just stinks!!
Wonder what Centrals had to do to use the ground at the start of the year???

We seem to be going round in circles here because you either cannot or will not accept the facts !
So look closely & I will spell it out for you exactly where I stand on this issue once again......... & for the last time:
1. I dont care where the RDFL hold that final.
2. I am not bagging the Melton FC or Melton JFC. (although I believe we established already with your help of course that they were one in the same entity)
3. I dont think it is appropiate that a Junior club make money off a Senior Final..... & vise versa.
4. I dont think that it is appropriate that a BFL Club raise Money at an RDFL Final.
5. I dont think that it is right or proper that a Junior or BFL Club raise money at an RDFL Final at the expense of one of our own Senior RDFL Clubs doing so.
Moreover the more this issue is kept running the more it will be percieved,......as it should be, in a Negative light.
I am not sure what your motives on this issue are champ, cause you just seem to keep argueing about the merits of this decision, when logic would suggest that ALL parochial RDFL people would be Aghast & Appalled at it.
I know I am !
Perhaps you should state your interest or conection in this before you make well & certain that the Melton Bloods (Juniors or Seniors) wont be able to sell a single musk stick or glass of cordial on that day !

Your second point is still wrong, Melton JFC is separate to MFC, not other than when kids get to 18s, most of the, not all go across to senior club.
My motive is your going trying to gain support for not supporting a junior RDFL club.
I ask you again before you make these statements about Melton JFC not earning a cent, speak to Central and ask them why they asked Melton JFC to open there canteen.
My interest is that I had two kids play at Melton JFC and was once the committee at Melton too so i am a little biased, but i still thinnk you need all the facts, which you clearly don't have

I agree with you but Omni is not talking about that. I don't know all the facts about Macedon so I have not commented. 2 questions from here pal,
This subletting you speak of tends to suggest that Centrals are getting some sort of monetary recompense for doing so. Are they ?
& also how do the Central Boys sub-let something they do not own or control ?

Had heard we were getting another ground, next door to the one we already have................... But there is a lot of water to go under the bridge before that happens mate.
As for the League shifting HQ...... well who knows which way they will jump, especially in the light of their recent decision making.......... Id'e say Melton may be their prefered option, or Woodend or Kilmore.
They seem to be currently enamoured with those Venues.

See my earlier response - can't happen. Bloods only on the main ground or the sirens start. Without knowing details, my money is on the Bloods running the bars at the main ground - they have the licence. Biggest and easiest money spinner (that's if people buy there!).

So a BFL Club will in fact be trying to make a $$$$ at our (RDFL) expense then ?

Going at about 75% (given the talent they have) & No Team is Unbeatable !
Rating them against other teams is a pointless excercise I think champ.
Lets get back to footy,Rockbank to beat Kilmore by 5 goals. I like to see that ! love to see Dayson's redhead mullet back for heritage round the girls at jerry springerville would love that

I don't think it is appropriate that they would.
You will find that Centrals are running the Bars at both grounds, this is information going around MJFC committee.

Final scores
Riddell 17.13 Def' Lancefield 5.5
Macedon by 10 pts over Sunbury. (player No' 17 was the difference apparently) ! ! !
Diggers by 9 goals over Romsey.
& Kilmore by 5 goals over Rockbank.
After watching riddell today and listening into convo's from a few players this club is not going in the direction i thought would be it seems to be fallen apart.scooter will want his team heading into the finals as a unit not in fractions like i heard today resting guys who don't want to be rested ego's etc

Darley would beat Riddell by ten goals at the moment- that is coming from a Riddell person who has seen Darley play twice this year.
well if thats the case you could double that margin for every other team in the RDFL then

I noticed that Blade was named best for Riddell against Lancefield.
The Tigers should have also named him in their best as Blade hit about 15 Lancefield blokes on the chest with his 30 odd disposals.

That's a bit harsh, I thought Bladey was okay on Saturday. My votes would have been:
5. Petran
4. Blade
3. Collins
2. Climas
1. Waters
Tigers put in a decent effort, simply not good enough though against the class of Riddell.
Didn't think Besanko was in the best six for Riddell, but I liked the way Brayden Allen played. Think he could even make a ruckman for the Bombers!

ha ha what a suprise , the suprising part is that it hasnt been picked up earlier as it has happened all year long , easy kicks standing on the outside of the packs are easy to get, i see half of those posessions hit the opposition another thing that doesnt suprise me either, good players use the ball well ie;the mcinernys, sam young ,climas,j.allen and ng. you'll also find all of those players down the bottom of the packs figting hard for the ball and going in for the hard ball is something you certainly wouldnt see blade doing , but i suppose in footy you sometimes need those guys who are to scared to go in and get the hardball after all the guys going in to get it need someone to dish it off to !

bit harsh there old mate one shouldnt judge until they know the full story, perhaps he has a phobia of full bodied contact from another male and should think about a change in sports, perhaps running wide wearing the wing attack bib maybe a better option for the boy ahhhhh!
back to footy...... does anyone see riddell actually being in any danger of losing at all this year ?? they seem to be in cruise control and just strolling along very nicely indeed. and could anyone from sunbury fill me in on how they rate macedons performance on the weekend are they strong enough to go deep into the finals ??for me at this stage it would be riddell straight into the big dance and sunbury and woodend fighting it out in a preliminary final.

Noticed Woodend boys more interested in Gisborne game and drinking piss than any RDFL matches on the weekend. Would think they might want to get another look at the mighty Riddell Bombers before finals time, especially their coach but no from what i saw at tele on saturday arvo he was more interested in betting & drinking than studying. Poor form from woodsy boys, my tip is they will go out in straight sets this year

what are you on about roy, just coz we didnt go and watch the other teams means jack shit you moron, why would we go and watch riddell, we knew that they were going to win, we already know who there guns are, what homework could we possibly do??
i dont think that they are going to change there game plan this week from the one that has worked for them all season-
Robertson taps to lil brother, handball to young bracks atackle, kicks to james, goal
poor form is a crap phrase to use, what dose it matter what we do on the weekend, or who we watch?
Plus it is our week off, last time i checked we werent playing in the AFL, that we could have a drink on the weekend and get on the punt!!
Im sure that this reason will be the whole reason why in your eyes we will fail this year!, coz we didn go and watch riddell, if you had any brains you would know that like the teams in riddell, there are anumber of connections - friends at gisborne, im sure that we dont always get the chance to watch a higher level of footy on the weekends due to playing so getting to a game in gisborne isnt such a bad idea.
Im pretty sure you have got no idea on what the hell you are on about, roy!

Great call.
There is only one way to beat Riddell, and its the same method you use against every other side:
GET FIRST HANDS ON THE PILL
If they don't have it, they can't hurt you.
I saw the Bombers first hand on the weekend, and I think they can be beaten, but it means the opposition will have to play at an elite level with the midfielders firing and all players' skill levels at 90+ per cent.
Good on Woodend-Hesket for having a few brews and a punt. Just hope they got on Admirals Lady ($44) in the last at Flemington like a couple of us did at the Red Lion.

Woodend had a strong training session at Gilbert Gordon from about 12:00pm to 1:30pm on Saturday. A representative of the playing group and a representative of the coaching panel then attended the Riddell v Lancefield game and reported back to the rest of the group with their observations. The remainder of the group that did not attend the Riddell v Lancefield game stuck together for the day instead of going their own separate ways. They had a couple of beers, a bet and watched some footy together. If the team go out in straight sets I suggest that they look for more fundamental reasons as to why it occurred, rather than any focus on what they did on the weekend.

The last guy I saw getting his hands on the Pill first got buried by about 4 riddell players - that's an exaggeration but you know what I mean. Easy to say but hard to do!!

SOFT! You can't name a hundred players on the interchange. Only four get selected. Make the tough call! I should have put Ninga in my side ahead of Bev Green, but I'm happy with the side I've selected. I reckon Whiteway is the best bet for the Bowen. Always in Wallan's best players and stands out with the facial hair!

Super attitude, i love it. Thats why you are an average side in a below average league. Go and figure out a way to stop or break down Riddels game plan. You could start by figuring out a way for their ruckmen to stop getting his hands on the footy first. Then the tap might not go to his lil bro. Then you might go forward and you might figure out that Sam Young doesn't like it when you run him hard the other way. You might even figure out that when Sam is puffing (not on a reefer) that you can physically annoy him and he will give away silly free kicks- who knows give him a smack behind the ear and he might even get himself sent off. He is a good player when it goes his way but he is a sook and has a short temper that can be uncovered easy. Riddell are the best side by a mile and admittedly Woodend are crap but you are playing in an average country league so the depth of players is not great. How about Woodend tries to expose some of Riddells weaker links. How about they run hard at that soft bloke with the dreadlocks??? There are so many things that can be done to beat Riddell and im sure if you gave me a few hours then i could write you a thesus on Riddells weaknesses but if you already have it worked out then good luck to you einstein. You will sitting in the Woodend pub with a sorry look on your face in September knowing you didnt really exhaust all avenues to win a flag. In hindsight though who cares- you got to wear a helmet in juniors, Danny Sipthorp will still be off his face nude techno dancing and Matty Loughnane will still be bowling right arm over in the summer. Get a life moron, if your not fair dinkum then play two's- you stink a bad smell!!!
What a shame you hate Melton South - maybe they could send you copy of their games!

Scooter is doing a great job, and as far as I know all the players are behind him, and he should be there again next year if he wants the gig. Harrison played well in the seniors on the weekend, but he has had to change his game to fit into that side. I think the Powers are terrific coaches but don't think they'll be leading the Bombers next year.

What a piss weak excuse. If they beat you its because they are a better team on the day... At this level knowing your opposition inside out & doing match ups to suit can make a massive difference. From what im told Nick hartnett & goodyear did that job for woodsy last year & it helped, so who is doing it this year?

You can't be a Cat! By the way, Macedon haven't made the finals yet - I wouldn't be counting the chickens too quickly.

Well Dirty,i will be there to pick up pieces and start offering our cash around.Sorry Dirty did want cash too,see you at pre season 09
More rubbish! No recruiting person from any club would say things like that. They tell nobody anything and they definitely don't mention cash. You're a player - mainly with yourself!
