Funniest movie I've seen so far this year. Some great lines. Michael Cera's character is the same as George Michael from Arrested Development and the two cops in it were absolutely hilarious. Must see :thumbsu:

Saw it last night. Was enjoyable and had a few laughs. Will probably need to let it age a bit before comparing to American Pie.
One thing I noticed, the high school seniors actually looked like high school seniors, not 26 year olds playing 17 year olds.

Saw the first 1/3 of it again last night at a movie marathon, before switching cinemas to go and watch Rush Hour 3, and it was even funnier than I remember it the first time! I was laughing so much I was crying!!!! :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :D :D

I thought it was very good, especially that it didn't (mostly) use cheap laughs. The on-screen chemistry is great, and it was funny throughout.

Great movie, i'd say its slightly better then Knocked up, which i found hilarious, such a different type of humour, they swear so much you don't even notice it after the first few minutes.

They gave it 3 1/2 stars, which is pretty darn good.
Went and saw it about 3 weeks ago. Loved it. The chemistry was excellent. And McLovin was brilliant too...
What made the whole night even funnier was that my friend got up to go to the toilet and stacked it so badly the whole cinema got up to see what was going on. She was so embarrassed she spent 10 mins in the loo. It was almost as funny as the movie (almost).

Saw it when I was off my dial and enjoyed it very much. Don't remember much but remember laughing a lot so it must've been alright.

Finally got around to seeing this tonight. It's rare these days for a film to live up to the hype surrounding it, and this did that. Great stuff. Michael Cera is just so damn good at playing awkward scenes.

I only saw this on the weekend and I was a bit disappointed to be honest. IU had read this thread prior to watching it and it didnt live up to expectations.
Micheal Cera is very good, love his work.
Cannot be compared to American Pie, this is good dont get me wrong but it wasnt all that.

Best Comedy I've seen for a few years.
Great movie, the McLovin/Cops arc beats out the main story arc though. Comedy gold.

I thought this was right up there with American Pie as one of the greatest teen comedies. I was literally crying with laughter in the cinema at the first 1/2 of the movie.

Agree with what has been said, the McLovin parts of the movie were better than the main storyline.
Didn't really find the dvd commentary all that interesting, i still havn't heard the Knocked Up commentary... but i thought the 40 year old virgin commentary was great.

If by "class" you mean that they pretend to talk dirty without actually talking dirty, and actually being pretty damn prudish really, then yeah you're right.
The refreshing - and great - thing about Superbad was that it really went for it. It has all the same "redeeming virtues" as American Pie (both being genuinely good coming of age tales) plus some honest crude humour.

I think it was pointing out that they were so desperate to score with the ladies, they didn't realise that their friendship was about to change massively.
I thought it was a nice touch.

get a sense of humour champ, i thought it was piss funny. not sure that it was made to "stimulate the senses" more just to get some cheap laughs and a shitload of them.
go a re-hire the english patient out on dvd again.

Some people like it some don't I personally thought it was not funny at all and could see most gags coming a mile away which was a huge disappointment as I've enjoyed most of the films that Seth Rogen and all his mates have been in. Although Knocked up was rubbish too. 40yr Old Virgin was a ripper.

They are the only 4 films Rogen has played a substantial comedic role in. Not sure how liking 1 of them equates to "enjoying most"

watched this last night for the first time...
i really enjoyed it, although i felt it did fall a way quite a bit about half way through... but some great one liners, and the dialogue felt genuine, like it did in knocked up (which is the funniest move i've seen in a long time)...
First Thing you have to remember is that Superbad isnt made for everyone, its one of thoes teenage/sex movies, and lets face it 99% of thoes are Shite, with maybe the excption of the American Pie movies.
It was great movie to watch Seth Rogan is a very funny guy and a good at these types of movies. Hes got a new movie comming out soon with the guy who played the Goblin in Spiderman, about a Bunch of Stoners Called the " Pinapple Express" (type of weed) Go Figure :rolleyes: if anything to go by with his last few movies it should be great.
I even bought Superbad on Blu-ray because its a kick ass movie

That's James Franco. He starred in Freaks and Geeks with Seth. That was Seth's big break really.
Interestingly, if you watched that show and later Undeclared, you will see many young faces that have later been cast in Rogen's movies like Knocked Up and Superbad
