Yes before all the sequels, it was a good movie. Not as good as Raging Bull, but Rocky and Cinderella Man have a greater emphasis in glorifying the sport.

Raging Bull.....amazing film.
Talking of boxing, When We Were Kings was pretty damn awesome.
And on a different tack, but still a documentary, Hoop Dreams was fantatstic.
That gets my vote.

Okay so there's a theme there but one of these films doesn't fit the theme.
Rocky is the only one not based on a true story.

I was really disappointed by Ali to be honest. Felt like he was given a bit of an 'airbrushing'.

Adam Sandler, quality, The Waterboy, Happy Gilmour.
Sandlot kids was good,
The Mighty Ducks, more for kids, but good just the same.
Gotta love The Rocky movies
